GM's New Patent - Manual for ME?
|
GM couldnt stand the whinning from manual corvette lovers any more so they gave Jalopnik some info so the suicide rate on “the manuals are for real men “website subsides. |
Very interesting. There may be hope for a manual transmission after all.

Since throttle by wire sucks compared to a cable I would expect clutch by wire to be extra suckage.

X2. not a manual if you can get in traffic and not have to shift if I read it correctly.

I don’t really care what it does... as long as there’s a stick,and I don’t have to shift like I’m in a video game(paddles) I’m good. I’ll take what I could get. |

i don’t think it will shift for you but will “hold”the clutch for you. |
I don't know why there's so much hate for a superior system. Manuals are on life support. I love heel & toe driving as much as anyone, but I realize that its era has come to an end in the high performance vehicle segment.

More involved in the manual shift experience

I knew they wouldn't just have an auto you have to be out of your mind to think Chevy wouldn't put a manual.

I'm going to be honest, if you're halfway decent at driving stick I really doubt the difference on a track is that much. From a stand still sure but chances are there is a lot more to be gained on the track from improving picking your line than anything else, especially if you've been doing it a while. Actually most of the tests I've seen pro drivers do it goes one way or the other. But I doubt almost anyone that picks up one of these will push it that hard or are even capable of doing that. so for the average joe, yea, it'll be faster and easier.
Personally, my daily is an auto. My fun car is supposed to be fun so it's a manual. I want it to be different. If I drove it everyday then it would be different. Just my take... |

When Randy Pobst of Motor Trend tested the Camaro ZL1 with a 6 speed manual against one with the 10 speed automatic at Willow Springs, the manual was faster.
