BTR 2 vs BTR 3
Hey all,
What kind of power/torque gains would you expect going from a BTR 2 cam to a BTR 3 cam in a HCIE LS7? Ive searched and seen comparisons of the BTR 3 to the BTR 4, but not many results on the differences between the BTR 2 and BTR 3. A friend is building up his Z06 and is looking to go with a very similar build to mine, but is considering going with a BTR 3 depending on how large the gains are from a BTR 2. Thanks for any input guys! |

Hope this helps, I asked something similar a little bit ago.

I haven't seen any actual Dyno comparisons between them either, but I've seen "10-15hp" mentioned before when talking about them.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...stage-2-a.html Thanks for this. I remember this and actually posted in it, but most just mentioned driving characteristics. My friend is wondering what the HP gain across the band would be. Basically he wants to know if it's worth the decreased drivability of the BTR 3 over the BTR 2. He's driven mine and is happy with how it performs, but wants to know how much he can expect to gain between the two. I told him to make an account on here so hopefully he does soon . |

I did get a lot of really nice responses and some PMs too about this, just never any direct comparison to the 3. Good luck to your friend! I also have yet to pull the trigger. |
15-20hp 6k+
Same tq just moved up in the rpm band. |

I should have read more carefully! Sorry about that.

yup, it will shift everything right.
When I had my 07 Z06 with a BTR2, milled/P&P heads, Halltech 108, NW102, ported Fast 102, injectors, and headers, I was just shy of 600whp. Driveability was great, car was a MONSTER. I wouldnt want to lose driveability with a BTR3 to gain 10-15 and shift everything to the right on the curve. |
Lot's of 116/110 Torquer cam dyno's out there, both Katech and AHP. AHP even has a new 112 Cam with great results. Go for the 8620 cam core and ask about what kind of lobe profile your cam uses.

Glad to see this thread. I've been going back and forth between the BTR 2 or 3. Good to hear the BTR 2 is a torque monster without losing any driveability.

Personally, I agree with you. I love the drivability of the BTR 2. It's drives pretty close to stock. To me, it's not worth giving that up for 15 HP or so (especially when it would also shift the torque curve to the right). It might be enough to persuade my friend though, haha.
Already have Halltech MF103, ported stock TB, Kooks 1 7/8" headers and X pipe, HF cats, stock set of ZR1 mufflers. Also went ahead and had the heads fixed (milled .010" just for kicks) with bronze guides, stainless exhaust valves, stock intake valves, and a BTR platinum spring kit. We'll see though, I'm not in any real rush. |
I was happy that it removed torque down low - my tires thank me but once it hits the powerband at 4k+ it hits hard (btr3 basically)

I have a BTR stage 3 in mine and made 575 hp and 500 tq. Love the sound of the cam and it performs great.

At a point if your friend gets stuck on big cams he needs to gear it and put asticky tire on it so he can drive around issues big cams give.
I run a 260/268@050 108lsa and drives fine but you need to change everything else or it will be a pig you hate driving. Dont get hung up on sound and youtube clips. BEtter to have a killer head and smaller cam than.....others may disagree If he likes to lug his car around, worried about mpg forget it. |
Why don't you call BTR? I've called down there before and even Brian will get on the phone and answer all your questions.

Thanks again everyone for your help! |
That's exactly what mine made with a BTR 3
WCCH cnc ported heads LG super pro coated headers, catless LS7 ported intake Vararam snake charmer cai And being a old hot-rodder and use to big cams I find the drivability easy to handle other than in a parking lot. Then need to use clutch management, 61,000 miles on car, 39,000 since modding and still on factory original clutch.
