License plate bracket
I recently purchased a 2015 Z06 from a state that doesn’t require mounting a front license plate. Unfortunately, I live in a state that requires a front plate. My local Chevy dealer tells me that all GM brackets require drilling a hole through the bumper. Is anyone aware of a solution that doesn’t require drilling holes in the car?

I have two of the slimmer type new in the wrapper with hardware - $15 each shipped. They are the Z06 part number.

Yup! I used the GM "Areo" plate that came with my C7. It sits inside the grille area. It was not intended for use as a license plate bracket because it does not mount high enough to meet regulations. Yeah ... then why does it have dimples in the corners where you drill holes that line up with license plates. The other front "plate" bracket also mounts to the grille but sits up over the nose of the car.
I bought a metal plate surround and painted it and the aero bracket in Carbon Flash to match the splitter and side skirts that I also had painted.. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...eb0380358f.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...9ad1da1d38.jpg I have placed C8 order so now I need to sell my 2015 Z51 3LT DSOM Coupe. |
What ZR1Bob said is correct.
