Removing intake what else should I replace
So I finally decided my hands are not small enough to get to the Oil Sending unit and I am not cutting up the car(wife would cry). So I removed the intake. I found my PCV hoses cracked and beyond repair so I am ordering a new OEM part.
My question is what else should I replace while I am in there. I am already replacing the intake gasket, there is a sensor right next to the Oil sending unit but I am not sure if it goes bad or not. The corvette has 125k on it so any help would be great I don't want to have to tear into this again. |
That is your CPS no need to mess with it unless it is leaking

It isnt leaking but the OPS was, actually the car runs great except for the oil sensor leak and it causing a service engine soon at the odometer

knock sensors seam clean, dont really want to do the oil sensor relocate yet, I got 125k out of the last sensor, what would I want to redo the steam lines?

Consider replacing secondary air check valve and extend the small vacuum line in the back of the intake to make it easier getting back on. If knock sensors are good, run a bead of silicon around each to keep water out.

Where is this vacuum line that needs to be lengthened? I am going to silicone the tops of the knock sensors as they look like new and gave no issues. I ordered the secondary air check. Thanks for all the help guys I want this to be a one and done as far as removing the intake.

You mentioned that you dont want to do this job again.... Not that it was a bad job but I felt the same and wanted to do it once. This is why I put the oil sender relocate kit in, now if it fails, 5 minutes.

The disgronificator probably needs to be replaced ir cleaned at a minimum.

Thanks for the sheet I ordered the parts and will be installing it, how did you address the wiring connector and where do you have it located after the modification

You will need thread sealer or plumbers tape for all fittings (I used a good quality thread sealer)
if you run the new new location by the drivers side firewall or where I located it, drivers side fuel rail cover, the harness reaches with no problem. You can use a few tie wraps to secure it in place. |
