Removing intake what else should I replace
 

So I finally decided my hands are not small enough to get to the Oil Sending unit and I am not cutting up the car(wife would cry). So I removed the intake. I found my PCV hoses cracked and beyond repair so I am ordering a new OEM part.

My question is what else should I replace while I am in there. I am already replacing the intake gasket, there is a sensor right next to the Oil sending unit but I am not sure if it goes bad or not. The corvette has 125k on it so any help would be great I don't want to have to tear into this again.

It isnt leaking but the OPS was, actually the car runs great except for the oil sensor leak and it causing a service engine soon at the odometer

knock sensors seam clean, dont really want to do the oil sensor relocate yet, I got 125k out of the last sensor, what would I want to redo the steam lines?

Consider replacing secondary air check valve and extend the small vacuum line in the back of the intake to make it easier getting back on. If knock sensors are good, run a bead of silicon around each to keep water out.

Agree on extending vacuum line. I read a good article that helped me fashion 6” extension out of 5/32 vac line and some plastic connectors. Not sure how I would have done it otherwise. And I took intake off, installed and off again after coolant crossovers leaked so I really appreciate it now. I did replace sending unit. Replaced steam vents but only because of ls6 intake install.

Where is this vacuum line that needs to be lengthened? I am going to silicone the tops of the knock sensors as they look like new and gave no issues. I ordered the secondary air check. Thanks for all the help guys I want this to be a one and done as far as removing the intake.

The vac tube is a thin plastic tube sticking out to the left of middle in rear of where intake would be. Should be an elbow fitting on the intake where it fits in. I took off the elbow and fitted in to a 6” section of rubber tugging with plastic fitting. Slid tube over plastic vac tube (looks like a black straw you would get in a mixed drink) and is easily connected when reinstalling.

You mentioned that you dont want to do this job again.... Not that it was a bad job but I felt the same and wanted to do it once. This is why I put the oil sender relocate kit in, now if it fails, 5 minutes.

After you put it all together it looks like this

The disgronificator probably needs to be replaced ir cleaned at a minimum.

Thanks for the sheet I ordered the parts and will be installing it, how did you address the wiring connector and where do you have it located after the modification

You will need thread sealer or plumbers tape for all fittings (I used a good quality thread sealer)

if you run the new new location by the drivers side firewall or where I located it, drivers side fuel rail cover, the harness reaches with no problem. You can use a few tie wraps to secure it in place.

If you have 120k on the stock valve, you can bet your ass it's thoroughly coked up.

What does that little plastic vacuum line do and what if it becomes disconnected?

runs HVAC funtions, disconnected it will blow air just from the defroster ducks or similar and engine will have open vacuum leak causing many issues !!!!
