Great company—— moates

Thumbs up for Moates

My ostrich 2 which I bought used a couple of years ago just quit working for no apparent reason

I made arrangements with Moates to send it in for repair, depending on the cost of the repair of course.

I send it in, and 6 days later they returned it to me prepaid

To my surprise, it was not mine repaired, but a brand new Ostrich and cables with no charge at all. I certainly was not expecting that type of service. I will make it a point to do business with them in the future

Have Had the ostrich in my 93 for a decade.
no problems whatsoever with it.

the only issue i ever had was one time it was ‘loose’ and would wiggle out of the chip socket during brutal WOT. This would cause the car to temporarily shut down, like a battery cable came off. When youd let off gas it would make contact again and drive fine

i spent 6 months chasing grounds until i realized this was happening.

Interesting you should mention this issue. I am having the exact same problem. I just replaced the ribbon cable with the longer one. I bet either it is loose or the extra length is causing me the problem. I will check it this afternoon

Well it turned out to be the longer then standard length cable. It was causing all kinds of intermittent problems. Dodged a big one this time
