Side vent grilles

Thinking about adding side vent grilles to my '06 Vert. There are soooo many choices, so I was wondering who has done it....any horror stories, easy installs, recommended ones to stay away from or buy and everything in between? Looking at something like below to compliment my polished rims.

Hey corvettejoe2006, I actually put them into my GrandSport. It was a little bit of a PIA but was well worth it in my opinion.
You definitely want to take off the wheel to have more room to get access into the fender. For the life of me I could not figure out how to just remove the fender so I ended up pulling the tape off that they used to hold the backside of the fender to the fascia.
The PIA part was reaching in behind the fender between the two parts trying to shape the metal to properly fit.
The next thing is that they give you double stick tape which I learned the hard way will not hold for long.
What I ended up having to do the second time to secure the metal in place was to use clear silicon around the metal so when it dried it would really hold. Has not come off in the past 3+ years now.
The key thing about getting the silicon to hold is that you would need to come up with some kind of way to keep tension on the metal while it is in place to dry fully. I saw someone using a bungie cord to hold it in place.
I ended up doing the same thing where one end is on the metal the other was around my floor jack.

Oh and while I did that I also wired blinkers into the coves so they would look indicate to idiots around me that I'm trying to switch lanes. At least at night time it is apparent.

Think I paid 30 bucks for these from a vendor on this site. You have to remove part of the wheel well liner to gain access not to bad.

I have them and what I didn’t like was the bright work. Didn’t want to buy black so I painted them. They still look good but not overpowering.

Thanks for the replies. Once we finally get some decent weather I'll move these up to the top of my to do list.

I did the install as well, and it was a minor PIA, but well worth it in the end. After this pic was taken, I added black door edge trim on the other side to highlight the grill opening. It matches the other black accents on the car.

Personally I think they look tacky.

The Black blends in and looks a whole lot better than large openings front and rear. Looks like something missing without.

Everyone has an opinion. I'm sure lot's of people like the back light louvres, side grill spears, black rims, etc. Many don't as well. Each owner has the right to do what he likes to his car.
You may have something on your C6 that people don't care for, but as long as your happy with it, isn't that all that matters?

Think they look good myself. I like Elijah's Grand Sport up there, not sure about putting lights in there though, but the grills look pretty nice. May have to look into that for my GS sometime down the road.

GM has those parts as accessories for the base and Z06 and I would assume the GS. I know the back ones snap in and as well as I remember the front may also. To remove them you have to remove fender liners.

Personally, I like them but haven't done them.

Got mine over six years ago; they were aluminum, but I painted them black before installing. Can't recall where I purchased them, but remember they were fairly easy to install..

I like having the "black hole" look... but if I was going to add grills, I'd go with matt black or powdercoated black.

Everyone has their preferences. Looked unfinished to me.

That's why I said "Personally I think they look tacky" I didn't ask for your dissertation for what different people like to do with their car I simply gave my opinion!

Yes I do. I know you have them but you'll notice that I don't and we're family!
