C4 tail treatment (87 coupe)
I have never seen this before. This 87 was at a local show today. Owner had it repainted about 5 years ago. The painter suggested the rear clip be molded in. I did not notice it at first but I do believe that it looks good.

I don't see it holding up very well. two different materials will do two different things in heat and cold
|
not for me
|
Not the best, not the worst looking thing I ever seen someone do. I wonder though why the gas door fits improperly though....:confused2:
|
I'm not used to it. I don't trust it will last long before the next body session if driven.
|
It's the C4 equivalent to the look of the 68-73 rear ends (look at the '69 next to it). I personally would not do it, but I don't think it looks bad at all...in fact, I think it looks pretty cool.
Sure seems to have held up pretty well for the last five years. |

I do not think that I would do the oem bumper in that manner. However, there is a company here in Ohio, ACI Vette that sells fiberglass bumpers
www.acivette.com These can be molded in without worry as they are rigid. |
Hi
I like it looks neat  |
It looks fine to me. I just wouldn’t want to know the bumper can no longer be removed without major body work that effects the whole back end of the car. What if he gets into a fender bender, or has to remove the gas tank for some reason?
|
I don't think it looks bad but I wouldn't do it for some of the reasons listed above.

I hope he doesn't get rear ended, cause they might create more work!

I wonder if he did the front end to match... Now that'd be sumpthin, huh?
Seriously, aside from all the other points already mentioned, I can't see spending the extra dollars to do this on an otherwise pretty much stock appearing car. |
If was painted 5 years ago whoever did a damn fine job. If the factory could go seamless they would. Facia to body seams sometimes lack in fit and finish.
|
I like the clean look. I would be concerned about cracking over time. Tank replacement is a concern also.

I agree Ron, that looks good. It's a nice subtle mod. The paint has held up well also.
|
it's definitely a fiberglass section. They were popular a few years ago. A lot of C3 rubber bumper cars do the same. They hold up very well.
I like the C4 look with the C3slight kick up. |
