82 Computer

The ECM on my 82 Corvette is not working. Sent to an ECM repair and they say it is not repairable. Searched everywhere on line for one but no luck. The part no is 1225550, I was told that an 82 Camaro part no 1225500 will work if I use the 82 prom. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks.

From what I have read you could also use the ECM from the 84 Corvette, you'll need the prom from an automatic car for it to work.

The 84 computer is faster. Direct plug and play. Only thing you need to watch for is the chip needs to be for a regular automatic. I think there is a special chip for a 4 + 3 or something. Other than that, I have heard only good things about the 84 computer.

The one I received is supposedly for a reg automatic. Hopefully I’ll know in a couple of days when we get it in and work on some other issues. Thanks for the info though, I appreciate it.

Zip and Ecklers sell them. So does RockAuto.

Mickey Plymale 06-11-2019 09:27 AM

Thanks, I checked the with Zip and Ecklers and they showed out of stock as well as Rock Auto, that is for the 82 ECM that's when I went to the 84. Thanks.

Might as well get a better CPU with the 84 if you have to buy a new CPU anyway...............

The Doug Nash 4+3 is the manual transmission for the '84. For the automatic transmission I think both '82 & '84 used the 700R4.
