My C7 engine blew
14' stock z51 with 26k miles. 7 oil changes since new and cylinder 2 has no compression. 3 weeks at dealer and still not fixed. Under gmpp warranty. Never again. Just put money down on a tesla. So disappointing.
|
Sh*t can happen to any car... sorry it happened to you. You can rest assured that you won't have the same problem with the Tesla.:)
|
I don't get it. Your upset you had a bad compression in your cylinder so your solution was to just get something without cylinders? I guess thats one way to do it. It sucks your engine went but the LT1 is known for being pretty solid, just a bad roll of the dice. If its going to be fixed under warranty I don't see the issue, brand new engine and it should be rock solid this time around.
|
Having experienced an LT1 failure at 2400 miles, I feel for ya. But, while my repair took 30 days, the car is running better than ever and as Mister Big said, shit happens. That's what warranties are for
|
Sorry to hear that , but your 14 will Now Have a 19 Engine . That sounds great to me.
|
Not sure I’d jump ship over this. As a mechanic myself I know shit happens. It can be fixed better then new. The Tesla sounds great🤣 until you want to make a turn. You’ll miss the Corvette.
|
Congratulations on your wise purchase of the extended warranty! Sorry to learn of the downtime, others are complaining of similar delays in the repair parts pipeline. Maybe it is time to move on. Just wait till GM starts playing around with overhead cams, again:

In my case, I figure my motor is better than before the AFM lifter failure |

My thought is the chances he gets a "better built" motor is higher as I'm sure the dealer doesn't want to have to eat the repair labor twice (warranty labor payments to dealer is almost always less than their going "retail" rate).

Best of luck,OP, and welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear but at least you are getting a new motor out of it! Have you owned the car since it was new?
Careful what you wish : I have two good friends with Teslas, both waiting for parts for their cars to be repaired. neither guy very happy with Tesla. These are both the $100,000 model Teslas too |
You bought a Tesla for reliability and dependability? I have some bad news for you.
These cars are very reliable. If my engine blew and GM fixed it for me, big deal. Don't know why people throw a fit. |
Sorry you are giving up on a Corvette - every car has the potential to have problems even at a low mileage and yours is going to be repaired on GM's dime. But good luck with the Tesla.

Oh, and 7 oil changes in 26K? Mine has 23K miles and 3 oil changes, dictated by the OLM. What have you been doing? |

Maybe you should read this: https://www.hotcars.com/problems-wit...y-talks-about/
ALL cars are subject to issues.... even Ferrari's |
Typical, waits until a problem happens before joining a forum and venting.

I think OLM would require an oil change every 12 months, regardless of miles.
