Why don't you like the L88 hoods? I think, depending on the color, they are the best looking after market hood available. I personally love the way they look on our body style.
torqvette - I still find it very hard to believe that all that fits just fine. I personally have not ever had a clearance problem but I didn't have the motor height you did. I wonder how SO MANY other guys ave clearance problems with a stock motor, aftermarket intake, and a stock carb. What got yours to tuck in so nicely under a stock hood?

I personally think they don't know what a drop base. Almsot all of the thousands of questions on will it fit under the hood people didn't even know what it was. I had to modify drop base to fit and I also smooth it out so it flows better. I'll upload some pics

I've used a drop base with every engine I've built...I can't imagine it's out of people's scope when they are ordering it or buying it.

Wow we got kind of off subject here. What was the thread originally again?
Seems like my fire extinguisher just doesn't get any use. I don't mind the glass filters. So long as you check them often to make sure nothing is loose they work fine. I've been using them for six or seven years.
Stay away from glass fuel filters. That's what caused my engine fire back in '87. I was lucky, in the driveway with a fire extinguisher really close by. I coulda been on the freeway, and watched the car burn down.

Does anyone make a GOOD glass filter? The issue is the ends that thread on loosen over time, and allow fuel to spill out. I've never seen the glass fail...just the seal when the ends loosen.

OK... do you need a video with footage of the setup and me closing the stock hood on top of it? Should I get the local paper to prove the date aswell? I'll do it tomorrow.
Also, don't forget, that's a huge drop base. I couldn't close the hood with the stock air box, I tried. In fact if you watch the exhaust sound video that I posted and if you look closely you can see that my hood doesn't close.
TT, I know I'm a lazy *** and I'm going to pay the consequences. My fuel system needs work, I will remove the rubber lines after the pump. I'm doing nitrous soon and that line will have to go.
Durango dude, the filter came from Summit, it was only like $10.
