I would like to do maintenance on my 70 LT-1 whether its oil, transmission service, etc. I use ramps for my other vehicles, i had the Corvette on ramp and nothing rubbed then attempted a second time but it felt like it shifted on me. I will not be using the ramps anymore. How do you guys get under your cars? I have tripod jacks and have used those on other vehicles. I just can't decide what way i want to go. I want it high enough to work but not too high for lack of room in garage and expense.
What do you mean "then attempted a second time but it felt like it shifted on me." I built ramps, drive up on them, they get the car high enough to change the oil without any issues. If I need to have the entire car up, the front is on the ramps and I jack up the back and put ramps under the tires. Solid, does not move.
oh, just meant the next time i put it on ramps one of the ramps squirted out on me. I have put all my cars on ramps that time was the only time it moved on me.

Sounds gross
I’ve heard of people putting grip tape on the bottom of them to prevent them from moving.
+1 for the quick jacks. I was scared to try to lift my convertible due to body flex. The quick jacks work great and pick it up evenly. Plenty of room underneath.

My c5 air dam hits the ramps and they can slide forward. Screw the front end of your ramps into a 4 by four piece of plywood. The weight of the car will hold the ramps firmly!!
A buddy flies those planes to Africa every other week!
Quick jacks cost money. And you need a place to store them. I have neither. So I glued motorcycle inner tube strip's to the bottom of my ramps so they don't slide. Works the treat.
Cost nothing.
Hello,
Yes, quick jacks do cost a lot more than a floor jack and stands or ramps
I found the biggest advantage is that the car can be worked on with the wheels in place or removed.
They really changed how I worked on my car and I wish they'd been around years ago.
Regards....
For most things I find a plain old Horrible Freight low profile jack is the most useful. My cross member was already dished so I just stick it under that and put a couple jack stands under the control arms. When I change the oil & filter I do that, drop it down level again and fully drain it and back up on stands to put the plug and filter back in. Not the worst thing in the world.
Jacking the rear under the diff isn't really convenient because of the spare tire tub. My neighbor gave me another HF jack when he moved so I prefer to lift the rear with one on each side. I put them just forward of the gusset (or whatever its called) in front of the rear tire and the stands under the gusset. Low profile definitely helps on these things.
Did that for about 8 years before I bought the QJ TL5000. That thing is great but I have only a small space and it's not the most convenient thing to take out for small stuff. That said, I used it all winter doing a top end upgrade and it worked flawlessly. I find it a back saver when working over the fender for long periods by getting up to the 12" mark.
You can google up C3 jacking points if you don't want the manual.

And they are very heavy, and it took a friend and me 90 minutes to set them up for his C5. About as friendly as a cobra
i leave my quick jack under car and drive over it. space is a premium., added wheels to more easily move around..
i rarely touch the hydraulic jacks unless i need to remove heavy parts like a differential.
Wow great pics Alan..that floor lol..amazing.
also you can use SUV blocks and gain another 3 inches.. do not stack double blocks (rubber). https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...er-and-c3.html
