167mph in 5th gear all stock except for K&N and catback, haven't felt the need since I've supercharged it as I know it will do plenty more with 283 more rwhp. I will make closed course top speed run early spring

I've seen 150 twice but I like to hit 125-130 once every week or two for just a few seconds. What I really like to do is turn onto the highway off my road and just stomp the crap out of it until 120 or so. Boy is it fun.

Been to 160 in my 99. I think I read somewhere that they're electronically limited to 175 unless you reprogram the computer but I may be wrong on that.
By the way, the Hemi Charger trying to run me was leaning and rocking at about 150 and backed off like a good little boy. (Think the capitulating dog that rolls over and presents his throat to the dominant dog.)

some guy i know with a Z06 is no stranger to 180mph. used a little N2O for the extra mph in 6th gear. there is this sweet stretch of road between Hilton waikaloa village and The Scenic Point. roads straight, flat and @ 1:30am empty. No entrances or exits either.

actually there is no rev limiter in 5th gear. though @ redline the throttle blade does start to close.(see provided pic) there is a speed limiter but its impossible to reach but with tuning you can set one where you want.

I took it to 150, the night I bought it.....

It didn't take long to get there, either.

Last spring, before any mods were done, I took it to 165 (on the speedo, 163 on the GPS), before running out of road.

This coming spring, when I take it on another roadtrip to Florida, I've got a "170+ appointment" with Alligator Alley...... Unless someone knows of a closed airstrip I can take it to, in NJ.

Car and Driver Magazine had the 1997 6 speed coupe topped out at 172 mph. I've had mine up to 140 ish.. Does not take long to get there and still is pulling like a frieght train at 140... Got skeeered after that so I let off... Top speed and city/highway driving are a bad combo with our cars.. All it takes is some grandma to pull out in front of you because she didn't see you coming up on her *** at 170mph... My Chevy Blazer is another story. Rev limiter kicks in at 98 mph... First time I hit the limiter,, skeeered me.. Thought I blew the motor or something

had it out last weekend on closed road with the wife in the car, got it upto 148, quickly, before she saw the speedo and I had to back off - her eyes were bigger than the head lights-there was plenty left in the gas pedle.

Hey, I know that road... I used to live up in Waikoloa. And I'd like to add to your description "very, very dark" and "quite unforgiving" should you leave the roadway. Lava rock like shards of broken glass. Ouch.

I've also had mine up to 167 mph, but ran out of roa . . err, race track. I'm guessing it would do 180 mph, maybe a little more.

Not only "Grandma"....

Let's just say I know "this guy", whom has driven at 150 and passed a car in the right lane of the highway. Maybe a "fly-by" would be a better term.

"He" said the passed car was the only one on the road and was about 2~3 miles ahead of him when "he" started his speed run on this loooong straight away. When "he" passed this car, which was doing about 85~90 itself, the other driver was a bug-eyed blur that looked like he pinched a loaf, in his pants.

It was at this time that "this guy", thought to himself..... "Self", imagine how that guy in the right lane must have felt, seeing those head lights appearing in a flash and passing him.... He either thought a small plane was landing on the highway, or he was going to be abducted by aliens...."

What if he would have freaked out and pulled off the road, or worse, to his left? Especially because he was drinking and thought is was a police helicopter chasing him???

(Thankfully), "he" lived and learned..... At least, that's what I told "this guy".

BTW ~ It seems like "this guy" is making his presence known in a lot of posts, in this thread......

Not really too interested in terminal velocity of my Z06. Just how quickly it sprints between each braking point.

Nothing ever good happens at 170+.

I had my 99 coupe up to 270kph on the autobahn. The HUD and GPS speed were exactly the same. I don't know how I could go any faster as I was on a slight downhill with the accelerator floored. The car seemed to get up to about 240kph vey quickly, but took a while to get up to 270.
