However, I agree with you, I had a cutout on my cammed LS1 01 Z28 and it was my favorite mod. That car sounded so good with the cutout open, you can't believe how many thumbs up I got with it open.

Only issue with it is I had the cutout for over a year and I was just plain dumb lucky I never got a ticket. It would attract attention from a mile away and I probably opened it at least once per day.
You have a good point...I do have Magnaflow 14336 mufflers. Perhaps they flow better than stock so I don't have any gain?

And like you, I have to be careful going through the gears - any LEO will hear me miles away. I have to admit, sometimes guys with turbos come up next to me "blowing their nose at me" (exercising their blow off valve). If I'm feeling froggy, I'll open the cutouts and go 1-2 in pretty quick fashion. With 3.90 gears it happens fast & loud, and shuts them right up every time! Guess I'm a little old for that stuff. But it's fun.

Love that Chevelle above. I had cutouts on my Hurst/Olds up by the collectors where they belong - that was music to my ears. It was a lot louder than my Vette cutouts.

I'm looking into doing this however I really do not like most of the exhaust shops as I've had many go arounds with them when I had my camaro. If you got the QTP Stainless cutouts and cut off the last section of the Exhaust pipe before it connects to the rear section will the cutout's fit over and just use the exhaust clamp? or is that a expanded fitting?

I had the same problem, franchise exhaust shops I went to don't like to do this kind of work. It takes a craftsman, and they're hard to find and that's why I had to pay so much. You will likely have more luck with an old time exhaust shop if you can find one.

The standard QTP cutouts will not work, you have to build a custom pipe to angle the electric cutouts into the only available space up next to the transmission. Those little custom pipes took a while to custom make.

I may take this on. First I'll need a muffler shop to do a similar install. Then, if the muffler shop not willing to do it, I'll need to complete the wiring myself.

Although the QTP catback is interesting, I want to see how much more work it will be working with the OEM exhaust. I like the idea of having the stock sound when closed.

Any instructions or suggestions would be much appreciated. Not much available from QTP or the Forum on details of the cutout install and wiring.

Thanks!

I printed pics from other threads and took them in to the shop with me, he glanced at them and knew what to do. The dude repairs/custom builds Ferrari headers which are spaghetti (they cook themselves in use due to tight engine compartments), so he knows what to do and has been doing it a while. You need an old school custom exhaust guy to do this.

Check the first post for the wiring I did. The switch and cutouts come pre-wired from QTP with nice connectors. They are pretty much plug and play and the C6 interior is pretty easy to take apart - it snaps together on the rockers and back panels where you need to drill and the inner inner fender is easy to R&R. Probably took me 1 hour to wire up. No big deal.

Now that I have a G5x3 cam my cutouts matter. I got a solid 6 rwhp adn 6 rwtq cutouts open vs. closed. With bolt ons only they made no difference.

Here's the dyno graph, showing open on top and closed on the bottom.

When is QTP going live with production? Will they offer different tips?

I don't know about production. He said at Carlisle they will be available. Call and find out. They also made the round tips, I preferred the rectangle.

Did you try the Muffler House in Delray Beach? They have been doing custom exhaust for years for me and others.

What part number from QTP are they? I sure would like to see your switch location and wiring. I'm in Jupiter. Do you run at Moroso?

Joe_G:
The location of your cutouts also looks like they only bleed off some of the exhaust. That may be why they aren't very loud. It seems to me that they would be more efficient if mounted at a bend so the cutout would be a straighter flow for the exhaust.

Just my $.02

They are loud. REALLY LOUD. That location is the only location that the cutouts will fit. You can buy the cutouts from Summit or QTP. I got 2.5", you can get 3" also.

I do go to Moroso once a month at least, at the Corvette Challenge. Hope to see you there.

TOMTORCHRED, your C6 sounds nice with the cutouts. Also, the switch is in a convenient place on the console, looks factory. Thumbs up for XTC on this installation. They did a marvelous job. For the price without removing your stock exhaust, it is a nice set up. You really have to hear the sound in person.

Where did you guys take the switched power from? Seat heat please tell me where.

And the cords down to the cutouts fit nicely through the parking brake cable boot. No holes needed . Comes out behind pass seat.

Now if I could just find the switched power

Never mind, must be getting late. The forth time around the fuse box now the heated seat relay fuse is keyed.
