My A/C button light flashes a few times when pressed then goes dark; and the A/C doesn't come on. What does that mean? A/C needs service?
What is the outside air temperature ?? If the temperature is below about 40 degrees (or the temp sensor is showing less than 40) then the PCM will not allow you to engage the A/C compressor, and tells you that by blinking the A/C light several times before going dark. It is explained in your Owner's Manual .... RTFM ....
This happened to me also, My A/C system needed a recharged to make the A/C work again. I then found it all leaked out again and I needed a new compressor and another recharge! Finally it's all ok now!
It apparently doesn't throw any codes when it needs a refill!

Black Z06 has it
A/C (Air Conditioning): This button turns
the air conditioning compressor off or on under most
conditions. The light on the A/C button will come on
when the compressor is operating in either the automatic
or manual mode. The air conditioning does not operate
at temperatures below approximately 35F to 40F
(2C to 4C). The light on the A/C button will flash if
pressed when air conditioning is not available. The air
conditioning cools and dehumidifies the air coming into
the vehicle. The air conditioning cannot be turned off in
defrost and defog, as it helps to remove moisture from
the vehicle. It also helps to keep the windows clear.

If the temp is 42+ it's probably low of freon
Below 42 to 40 it's normal.
