Well I took the car out this last weekend to test it out at a big auto-cross race and it didn't take long to wipe out the rear end with this new motor. I have the exotic muscle gladiator rear in there now and it has lasted the last five years of racing but finnally gave out. Does anyone out there have any Ideas for a stronger rear that is good for autocrossing. I know I could go a solid rear end but I don't want to lose any handling for auto-crossing. Has anyone tryed to auto-cross a solid rear end in a corvette? I have been wondering if a ford 9" rear end could be built for a independent rearend and then build a batwing to fit the car.
what gear ratio and what was used for a cent diff?
I was at a Corvette shop last night and measured up a C3 diff, which was very similar with wise. I know people make adapters to go from a D36 to a D44, I wondering if I can make one to go from a D44 (or a D36) to a C3
I just ordered the eaton truetrac from tom's differential the cost was 774.00 just for the locker plus I ordered new bearings and seals. I'm going to try this just to see what happens or at least until I figure out a custom irs system that I can't brake. I want to see what this will do at the drags and I don't want to wait until next year. The track closes here soon.
We do make IRS systems that will hold up to 1000 rear wheel horsepower, but I don't make it for any Corvette. We could custom a cage in there for you but we would need the car and you could not be further away from us here in Orlando. If I can think of another alternative I will let you know.

Subject: IRS rear end for 1989 corvette?
I have a 1989 corvette that I keep breaking the rear ends on. I was wondering if you make a IRS system that will hold 650RWHP that will fit my car?
Drag racing is SO hard on these IRS's that it isn't surprising 650 RWHP munched it up.
My 427 will be done in a few months, so I'm looking into everything I can to make the car reliable. Already talked to ZFDoc and plan on getting a full road-race prepped ZF6 with cooler. I think a new D44 case from Nelson or Tom's Billet one with some holes tapped for additional cooling lines would make it a lot more reliable. ZFDoc has a "pallet" that bolts in where the spare tire carrier was. He mounts a pump, filter and oil cooler on it. Should be able to mount another one for the D44 there as well.
I liked the snubber from the cage, but am thinking a flat plate on the top with holes lines up to the bolts for the D44 and torque bar would be vastly better. Tap the plate and just bolt everything together. The rear end would never move, the pinion would never flex. Seems to me it would make a BIG difference back there.
Lot's of good info in this...
P.S. Tom's is saying end of this year now on the billet carrier.
