Sweet!
Details on the build?
Hi Brian,
It's a fully forged/built 383, front and rear internally balanced. LT1 bottom end, LT4 top end, extensively CNC'ed. The cam is 236/246 with a 115 LSA and 0.6" lift. 9:1 CR. On the engine dyno it made 430 crank horsepower and 400 ft-lbs tq.
Stage 3+ SPEC clutch, superdamper with 8 Rib pulley.
V7-YSi supercharger pulleyed for about 10-12 pounds (we'll see what happens!). 2-stage alcohol injection.
I have a V7 Ys trim I am going to be installing on the drivers side. I will be looking at around 15lb.
I have been searching around trying to find bearings and seals for it. Vortech is no help they want me to send it in and wont sell me the bearings. I will let you guys know how it turns out.
Hi Guys !!! I've done several YSi's on the C4-L98 !!! greg
Hey Greg,
We have not spoke in a while. Hope everything is well.
I am going to call you in the up coming weeks I have been looking at the two stage water cooling systems you sell and have to pick one up.
Also do you sell just the 90 degree elbow shown above with the BOV?
Thanks, Walt
Brian thanks for posting my vid, I've been trying to find some time to post it. Most of you will have noticed that the YSi wasnt even hooked up; nothing quite like a big cam/ forged chevy 383 with open pipes!
Since the video was taken I have been quietly putting the final touches to the setup - I am currently in the early stages of tuning and so far street drivability is OK, I have some VE smoothing to do below about 3000. Hoping to hit the dyno next week for a couple of fairly easy pulls up to around 5000 to see how it's looking under boost.
The hood has been extensively notched, although I did some funky twists on the intake (and relocated the power steering reservoir) to prevent too much notching. The YSi is so big that it wont really fit on that side of the engine bay without the pipework extending into the wheel well. What you see in my avatar is 'phase 1' - I have enough clearance (I'm running coilovers so have lifted the car a little) for straight line track work and regular road use, but I would not take it to a road course in this configuration.
'phase 2' I am going to rotate the supercharger volute to point downwards and run the pipework down inside the wheel well and under the car. I'll need to run stock size wheels on the front (i.e. 245's) to make that work. It may allow me to run an air-air intercooler which could be fun.
Anyway - its been quite a project, looking forward to posting up some dyno results when its fully tuned.
