I was just looking through the posts and ran across something called "Road force balancer". I am looking to put tires on my 09 in the spring and am now curious about this.
Anybody know about these? What's the benefit?
Should my local Corvette dealer be properly equipped?
Thanks Rick. I hadn't seen that before and was curious about the machine. I am having an issue with ride and am having a road force balance done next week. Now I am really looking forward to it instead of feeling like it was a shot in the dark at fixing my ride problem.
finding a shop with a good road force balancer and a touchless tire machine may be difficult, not to mention gonna cost too
that equipment is BIG $$
i thought about buying my own.... but WOW... certainly not cheap
Be sure to give the tech some specs to shoot for. On a C6, road force numbers:
20 is too high
15 is acceptable but could be better
10 is excellent
I had a guy who was satisfied with a RF of 22 on one of my tires, couldn't figure out why the car was vibrating. As someone said, you can have a square that is perfectly balanced but it won't roll very smoothly.
A road force balancer simulates the tire being on the road. This balancer has a roller that rides along the tire. A good shop should have one, it's nothing new.
