Help!! Need single din stereo mounting plate for cut bezel!
Hi, Please help if you can, I am about to go nuts! I have researched thread after thread, site after site, and called multiple techs, yet I cannot seem to find what many here are already making use of, a mounting plate that covers the cut out bezel on a C3 (1976) so I can mount my single din aftermarket stereo.
I'm about to buy an original bezel, remount all of my gauges and install a a Retrosound original fit stereo as I feel that I am out of palatable ideas. That option is still looming, but I hate to give up the single din radio just because I can't find a mounting plate designed to cover the damage of a cut bezel and old tune/volume text, so I can get a clean mounted single din.
Anyone know where I can get one? Please? Sites, phone numbers, and part numbers welcome.

Reason: More descriptive title.
over 15 years ago when single din was all the rage, there was no decent upgrade for the old ****&post radios, my bezel was already in 2 pieces and still is, I had a machinest friend machine it, then just used a piece of sheet metal, fabricated it to fit the radio & the bezel. still get compliments, also bounces down the track at 145, but never seen anything close to it in the market. I see they now offer bezels designed for the single din radios, guess I'm not much help.
Is it one of these your looking for? (you cut it for the din opening)
I believe I got mine from american autosound but that was a while ago.
There's some on fleabay right now
google this

this is the one I got also, it easily was cut and trimmed to fit a single DIN unit.

Thanks for the reply, I had thought about having a machinist make one, but I can get a new oem bezel for $80, and thought that for the cost of custom mounting plate I could just as we'll go back to the original look, even if the stereo options will be more money that way for fewer options.
Yeah, I've seen those plate... so you just cut it for your din? Guess I have been hung up on how you attach this style mounting plate to the bezel? There are already two drill holes right above w cut out! I guess one could pre-drill this plate, cut it to fit, then secure it to the bezel with a couple black mounting screws, or bolts, but I was worried that would look bubba'd.
I will go with either a Sony Media head unit (stores the I-pod inside it under the flip front in a tray that folds out where a CD player normally would sit), with Rockford Fosgate 300W amp, pioneer amped sub and a standard four speaker setup. That is if the dash fix works that you guys are suggesting. Otherwise it is a Retrosound USA-230, with an added powered Audiocontrol LC6i LOC; either way, I'm going to get OK sound, that is if I can hear it over the 300 horses running out my 2 1/2 inch flowmaster-potted straight pipes :-))
The back of these had the marks where to cut for the din radio.
These are basically just held in by the mounting sleeve for the din radio
I sanded mine and made it fit better and then epoxied it into place and filled and sanded the joint and painted the whole unit to help it blend in a little better
My dash was already cut up when someone put in a regular deck at some point so I didn't mind cutting it more to hole the DIN

Hey, that looks great. Mine was Bubba'd when I got it. Guess I might have to cut out some more so the raised half moons left over from the turn **** are cut completely away. Thanks for your images.
I'm quite happy with it. I should have done it ages ago and never bothered with that expensive Corvette specific cassette player.
Remember to place the trim piece down first and THEN insert the DIN-1 sleeve. I bent the tabs back over the bezel and it's nice and secure. Initially I had the DIN-1 sleeve "behind" the trim piece and when I would insert the stereo it would not "latch" properly.

I ordered mine from Motion link posted above, hope it works, I'm just concerned about how well it will secure. Did your mounting sleeve have tabs far enough back to secure into your console?
this is the one I got also, it easily was cut and trimmed to fit a single DIN unit.

I got one of these from J.C.Wittney last week 15.00
The one I got was from Motion, and it was $10, but I checked out JCW after I read your post, and the JCW one states it has extra supports, I have not received the Motion one yet, but if it does not look stable enough, I will return it and order the one from JCW. Let us know how your installation goes?
I think I have one on file from last weekend. It's just such a pain to put them in the bucket and then paste them here. Give me a few minutes.
OK...here is a picture.... note the little tabs bent over to lock it against the backside of the bezel. On the frontside you want to ensure that the Trim plate goes down first...and the this sleeve goes in. Snug it up against the trim plate and bend the tabs over.
Your new DIN stereo will then go in and latch.
This was with an old DIN stereo I had laying around. The new one I bought had different tabs, but I was able to bend them against the backside of the bezel and it's in there nice and snug.

I had the same question. I couldn't find one anywhere so I cut out a few dozen. Not trying to get rich, just sharing with C3 guys. PM me if interested https://www.ebay.com/itm/223895536043
