Congrats! Thanks for taking the time to post about how your car ran! And I could give two ***** about front skinnies or stock-It's still a 10.38!!!
I can't wait to see how the A8 runs after broken in, less fuel, less aero and some bolt ons
Ok guys everyone calm down lol Geez some of you need to relax...
Just to be clear because I know how people love to make stuff up and exaggerate...
The Car is 100% stock! NOTHING WAS DONE OR TAKEN OFF Besides rims/tires! All Aero was on and it is a ZO7 with the parachute rear spoiler. No seats were removed, it even still has the plastic wrapping on the interior so guys we need to factor that extra weight in...
Used CCW C2K wheels on a Hoosier 335 drag radial and M&H Tires up front
I started the day with a FULL tank. The 10.45 was ran 1st followed immediately after by the 10.38, so on both those passes the car was the heaviest with a full tank.
Yes that was not a typo the car did only have 37 miles on car when I started the day. Bought the car and came with a full tank of gas thats the only reason it had that much fuel, Usually I try to go to the track with around 1/8 tank of fuel. Hopefully they filled the car with 93 and not 87 or 89 because that would be interesting to go back with 93 then!
I know for a fact there is a 10.29-10.33 to be run with the car in the right air, engine broken in and loosened up and 1/8 tank of gas... After those 2 passes it warmed up, and i mean warmed up allot all the way to 57 degrees from the 35 degree temps in the am. But even in the warmer weather the car went 10.43, 10.45, 10.43.
I did have a question tho... Coming from a 2012 ZR1 when I went to track and wanted everything off I would hold button down until both traction control and active handling were off. So I know with the new ZO6 you have to hit the center button 2 times in a row to get both off. So with that being said I put car in track mode, then hit button twice to shut off t/c and a/h then put in race mode. In that setup the car would not do a burnout, it was like traction control was on? So I left it in track mode with the race setting but only shut off traction control by hitting button 1 time and then it seemed as everything was off... Anyone else have and info regarding this or experience this as well.
Thanks for all the compliments guys as I really do appreciate it.
Great run but i d like to know what size front tires you had when running that time?Did you do any runs on the stock wheels and tires from the factory?

Ha...you want to go fast than just build an old muscle car for 25-30k and go run 9's all day long, the extra 70k can buy you a Z51.

Well, in all fairness to the C6-Z folks (you may call them "haters"), this is not an "apples to apples" comparison since the C6-Z could not be had in an automatic version.
So the ZR1 is the quickest Covette in history. The C7 Z06 with a stick is perhaps a touch slower, we can't compare the A8 and in 2017 all vette's will be autos.
Actually, the ZR1 is the quickest car in history, period I think. We aren't allowed to compare any of the current crop of DCT cars since they aren't apples-to-apples either under this logic.
This should drive the price of used ZR1's way up, right???

This is all about the Corvette "fast list"...nothing more, nothing less. So, "under this logic" which Corvettes have DCT's, pray tell?
I hate to be that guy. But one of my pet peeves is confusing "quick" with "fast". Fast is a measurement of speed, most commonly used to indicate top speed.. hence the first question commonly asked about sportscar: "How fast will it go?". We all know that due to less downforce, the ZR1 will always be faster than the Z06.. after all the ZR1 has the fastest top speed of any showroom stock Corvette.
Quick on the other hand is a measurement of acceleration. So when referring to times recorded in the 1/4 mile, the measurement is quick. And I completely agree with what you were saying though. I'd just state it differently. If he puts the stock wheels back on and then goes 10.5x or better. Then he will have the QUICKEST showroom stock Corvette of all time!
The ZR1 WAS a great car, just like my 1991 ZR1 WAS a great car. But times change, and cars get faster and better. And the new Z06 is both!
I went with the 335/30/18 which is a 26" tall tire, Stock is 26.4 I believe, Really cant go much shorter of a tire. One time i did try manual shifting to have the car not go into 5th, but I was about 20-30ft short when I left it in 4th, and for some reason that was the only pass that the car spun a little. Next time I go back (if its in the next few weeks) I am gonna try putting all the stock tires on. I do believe if the track is in the same condition as it was the stock tires should hold...
Got ya. When you run the radial try airing it up 1/2 psi at a time and dump some fuel. It would be cool to see a 1.4X on the stock setup.
You've seen other Z06s on a chassis dyno or other LT4s on an engine dyno (like HallTech was saying). Also, nobody ever said "every" LT4 will dyno "exactly" the same...where did you make up that BS from???
SAE J2723 requires all engines certified to that spec to be within ±2% of rated HP. That means the LT4 can be 637-663 HP.
PS That makes your 675 HP claim BS too...where do you come up with this stuff?
I read a summary of J2723 and it didn't say anything about +2%. I did not read the whole thing though as I am not interested enough to pay $72 for it. It said it was a procedure for OEM to certify the engines power. It was also voluntarily unless the OEM states it is SAE power, which GM does. The biggest thing is that didn't even happen until 2005, 10 years after the last ZR1 (LT5). I would not doubt there were some higher number ZR1's out there. I can tell you from a very respected source that there was a big tolerance on the LS7 deck heights they were seeing and if you had one engine at the low end of it and one at the high end you would see a bit of difference in power there. That would throw the whole J2723 out if it could only be +2%.
