Default Torque software

So I got my adapter and the Torque software, new toy. I am wondering if anyone knows how accurate is the software for the 0 - 60 times and the 1/4 mile times and speed. Does anyone know for sure?

Never heard of this---Is it a tuning software or simply a performance type meter that measures ET's and speed ??

Torque is a software that combined with a devise,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251488093341?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
allows the user access to all of the information that a normal code reader will give plus many more toys.

The second one.. will show basic OBD data, reset code, basic logging, etc. But no "tuning" or writing to the ECM

To me this has no value---You can get codes read and cleared for FREE at most auto parts stores OR buy a scanner that will do the same for less than $100---They even now have FREE apps for your cell phones that do the same things-----No magic here

That is exactly what this is, just not free.

I prefer dash command for this. The nice part is it's cheap.. The "app" is I believe $9 and the interfaces are < $20 on amazon.. so a scanner that you can use to see OBD data, graphs, logs, etc. for $30 isn't a bad deal.

Obviously it's not the same as a real tuning solution like HPT / EFI Live, but for the average joe that needs the basics, it's not a bad product.

Just because you don't understand the technology or what is being said is no reason to be RUDE, it just makes you seem more ignorant that you are.

As with all tools. Its effectiveness says more about the user's understanding & knowledge more so than the tool itself. Personally this APP has high value to me.

All data below collected with:
  • Galaxy S4
  • Android Torque App
  • Scantool MX Bluetooth OBD Adapter

OP,

The Short Answer:
It depends on your Phone, OBDii module, and if your using a external GPS. Torque is fairly accurate if you provide good data too it, my above post to tblu92 shows this.

The Long Answer:
The following data was taken when I first started playing with torque and data logging, I assume you have a similar setup. My setup was a Samsung S4 and the cheap $20 ELM Bluetooth OBDii reader. Since then I have upgraded my OBDii reader and added a external 10Hz GPS module, the video posted above to tblue92 was made using my current setup.

With Torque or any smartphone based data system the sample rate is heavily depends on how much stuff you log. In the below post I was pulling between 15-20 channels of data (some are hidden), this is why my refresh rate is . With my original setup I could only achieved a 10Hz (0.1 second) refresh when I logging 4 channels or less.

The phone is recording at 10Hz (0.1 sample/sec) but the $20 ELM OBDii is not producing new data at that rate

I'm using my phone's internal GPS which refreshes at 1Hz (1 sample/sec) at best so it sucks for drag racing.

Torque is recording a fairly accurate trap speed but the ETA is off due to the poor refresh rate of the OBDii sensor & GPS.

That is really cool. I know HPTuners has some software that does that too with your phone or computer. Pretty cool.

Yea, I think HP Turners is better because you're using a computer versus a phone. But for road course data logging I find using my phone to be very convenient ant it provides pretty good data.

Yes you did. If you ever need help with the software just ask because I've been using it for about 2 years now and I'm very comfortable with it.

HPT has video recording software for both phone and computers. I was messing with it earlier.. it's pretty neat how it works. Would be really nice for track days

-RaceRender for PC/Mac

Nice! I took a look at the video you posted in the other thread and you have me wanting to do a few laps now! I'm not sure my supercharged/stock radiator car would last long without overheating

Thanx that's real nice of you to offer. When I get time to play with it I might take you up on it.
I did a charity event at VIR and I must say it was Fantastic. I only got up to 119 mph because like I said it was a charity event and there was no passing allowed, I guess because we did not have to wear helmets.

Charity laps at VIR are awesome. I tend to use those opportunities to shakedown any changes or updates to my setup. Its also a good way to get familiar with the track without going full in.
