Default Need Advice on Side Skirts and Front Splitter

I have an 07 yellow Vert with tan top (Pics in profile) I am looking at CF Kits fiberglass or maybe carbon fiber from RPI or CF Kits. My problem is that there is nothing on the car which is black except the back bumper and the tires. Considering that, I'm not sure that spending the extra $$$ on carbon fiber is worth it. I used to think that I needed the painted skirts and splitter. But maybe the black will work.
Then I ask about getting in and out of the car. Is that a problem with side skirts. I suspect not. But appreciate the input
Then does the front splitter cause any problems? I ride a lot of back roads. Again I suspect that there are no problems but am curious as to other's experience
Thanks
JV

I catch the back of my shoe on the side skirt when I'm getting out of the car sometimes. Not a big deal. Scraping the splitter is a big deal if you arn't careful. Driveways are painful sometimes. Entrances to parking lots can be a hazard if the street dips down before the entrance. Mine has scraped for nearly 2 years without any damage until last month I was going out of a parking lot at night and didn't see how steep the street was angled up and it put a crack in the front of the splitter. I have the fiberglass one from RPI. It's fixable with some sanding and black paint though.

Carbon fiber will look good on the yellow car. As far as getting in and out of the car, you will get use to it and it will be second nature just like side pipes in the past.
If your car is lowered , I would not think the splitter and side skirts will last long. You need to be careful with sloped drives, speed bumps and pot holes.

I usually try to go in any driveway or parking lot at an angle if possible. I back into my own driveway. The rubber air dam drags a little even though I back in at an angle. Does that indicate a problem with the splitter dragging/hitting?

Depends on the angle. I can pull into my driveway at an angle and the splitter clears but barely. If I try to back in it would drag the street before even getting to the driveway part. Backing in puts your rear higher and front lower and that's not good with a splitter.

Does anyone know if the zr1 rpi splitter sits lower than a stock lip from a gs/z?

Looking for side skirts myself - I'd prefer something to match my black molding/splash guards but I don't think anyone makes them out of ABS flat/matte black. Unpainted Fiberglass is probably my only option.

BTW I think the black side skirts with Velocity Yellow looks pretty fly and had thought about doing it with my base, but not so much without a wide body. Example - this looks bad ***:

I'll be adding the ZR1 side skirts now that I've traded my VY base in for Silver GS.

I don't think it sits much lower, but extends much further out.

Thats what I was thinking. I have to back in because of the way my garage is set up. Backing in allows me to open the door towards the center of the garage which in necessary for me to get out.. I doubt I can trade sides with my wife. Maybe I could just do the side skirts in a matching color. But does it look right with the side skirts without the splitter?
Always seems to be a kink

Just installed mine. Its lowered about an 1 1/2 inches. I do the same as the others on here and go in lots on angles and slowly. I also have the front spliter in carbon. Rubbed it once but its strong enough to take some scrapes.

I think that car looks good with the black ground effects. However, my car has alot less black than that one which has made me question whether the black will look as good as doing the body color

You could add the oem splash guards for a bit more black trim.

If you have to back in, back in on an angle, if you go slow it will not hurt it. My wifes has had a lot of ugly scraping sounds but the splitter looks 100%.

Thanks. What color are the wheel inserts that you have? Did they come from Vette Stripes?

I have them already. Great investment IMO. Plus they look good. Thanks

That looks hot to me
I'm thinking of going with WSA Auto's skirts, leaving them black to match their front splitter on mine. They are fiberglass though not ABS plastic so I hope the finish matches.
Any one use these ??

Did you buy & install the splitter shown, from WSA? I see they have carbon Fiber skirts and splitter for mine at a very good price. But I'm always wary of fitment. Just curious of you experience with WSA

As to color match for yours, the fiberglass usually has primer on it and will need to be painted. It should be a fairly easy match
