I took the OEM Black Stinger. With all the Black that's already on the Corvette, the Rear Bumper, The Vents, the Front Grill, The Dark See Thru Top, I thought adding the Stinger was a natural. I thought the $500 charge was a little much but I bit the bullet. I guess several other people like it also as they have said when I get ready to sell it to let them know. I did reject the Black Rear Spoiler and Black Side Mirrors and the Black Wheels. On the wheels I went with the ZF1 Z51 Painted OEM Wheels. I thought I would probably go Chrome during this past Winter but I left as is. Good Luck with whatever you want to do cause its your Corvette and you will need to see it most everyday...
Depends on what look you're going for. On my car, I got the black mirrors, spoiler, exposed carbon fiber roof, machined wheels, etc. so I wanted to keep the bright red/black contrast theme going. If I had a body colored roof and body colored mirrors/spoiler I would not even consider it.
I'm really glad I added the stinger to my 2014.
If the vinyl should ever start to come off I will be
taking it down to a paint shop for a permanent stripe.
If you have the CF or transparent (both look black from the outside) then I say skip the stinger.
If you have the body colored roof, definitely get it. I think it helps break up the color.
I say yes! The stinger hood goes very well with the other black vents, scoops, skirts and splitter. However, my personal taste was that the black mirrors and rear spoiler would be too much so I did not order them.
I know most of you will probably say it is a matter of personal opinion but I am interested in what your opinion is about adding a black stinger to my 2015 Silver Z51 Convertible. I am really torn as some say it would look great and others say don't do it! I am leaning toward adding it but I thought I would kind of get a consensus from you guys.
Thanks
If you want to try it cheap, use this, it worked well enough for me that I am keeping it on for now. Be warned, it took me three tries to get a decent smooth coat - mostly because I hadn't used this type of product ever before.
To me it really makes the car, and with all this comparison talk to jet fighers, you will notice that all fighters have a flat black "stinger" at the base of the cockpit windscreen, this is functional, to keep glare out of the pilot's eyes... so a flat black stinger would even be cooler!

I would do it. make sure you get a perfect carbon flash match so when the top is down it matches the carbon flash head rest behind the seat. I think helps tie the head rest to the car.
Some cars look great with the Stinger...other's not so much. Personally I've debated whether to get one or not. VetteFX has one with a split in the middle which is my favorite. But, then again, I'd do it just to make my Vette a little different. When I got mine it was a "show stopper" but now they're all over the place like pop corn. Good luck with whatever you do.
How difficult of an installation are these stinger stripes? Is it similar to window tint, where the surface is kept "lubed" while setting the stripe in place? Thank you.
