Stock radio limitations with XM
Is it just the OEM 05 XM module that has been updated to digital to allow it to work now with the digital signal, or is is the actual Sirus GM-sir1 module isntead? If the old factory module just updated to Digtial from anlog, then this may be the problem with it not programmed for the channels that you want.
This is what the 2005 module will look like,
This is what the GM-SIR1 module looks like,

If just the old 05 module with a digital upgrade, then may need to update the module to the GM-SR1 (will come as a full kit, and you only need to swap modules using the new wiring harness that comes with it),then connect your existing antenna to it, and them call Sirus to have the old module cancelled, and the new module on your account instead.
As for the GM-sir1 Kits, check around and you should be able to find it for around $50.
And again, you just need the GM-SR1 module that will replace your old digitial updated OEM XM module and then harness "E" in the third page to connect to your the new module to plug it into your factory wiring harness.

Next step (or you can start here instead), put a MP-3 recorded disc in your radio and see if it will play. If it will not play, then you may have to re-flash the radio Firmware. Not only will this fix the mp=3 problem, but fix the missing channels on the radio as well (if you have the GM- SIR1 module installed).
Note, you can reflash the 2005 deck, and if it was already flash, no harm/ no foul. Just don't use the firmware on anything but a 05 OEM Vet disc single or 6 disc radio to upgrade it firmware.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
In 05, the XMmodules where anolog, and a few years afterwards when the XM signal when digitial, GM would pull the units, send them in, and there where converted over to XM digital isntead.
The glitch, XM was one company ,and Sirus was another at that time. So the modules where just converted for the XM companies digitial signal, and when sirus bought out XM (with it more channels), most of the converted modules where just not set up to receive the additional sirus channels isntead.
Also, around the same time as the sirus XM company buy out, since some of the cars where getting actual DM-SIR1 modules isntead (why you can find the used 05 analog module so cheap now). GM came out with the second firmware update flash for the radio as well (what is liked in my other post, with the most current radio firmware update flash).
Hence the first radio update flash firmware was more of a FM reception problem only (still trying to push new vets for the MP-3 disco option), and the second version of the update flash was the MP-3 and Sirus band update (with the orginal FM reception update).
