Don't know why the OP's compasses on either the infotainment screen and the one on instrument screen do not worked without a subscription? My OnStar subscription expired in April and both compasses still work so do my remote Key Fob commands and I still get monthly vehicle status reports.

That's why it's broke. Does your mirror have a green light? Mine is red meaning error. Taking it in next week for service and repairs.
I receive a discount on my car insurance with On Star. There still are benefits.
How much though? State Farm told me its a 33 dollar annual discount, when it costs pretty much that much per month. No thanks. Dont need bog brother spying on me and tattling to the insurance man.

When I spoke with my insurance company (State Farm) about getting an OnStar discount my long time agent advised again it. She said in order to qualify for the discount it authorizes them to monitor my driving habits via OnStar. She added, you may not want us to know those details considering it's a Corvette. Since my C7 insurance is $500 a year I decided saving a few extra dollars wasn't worth it.

That is pretty intrusive for an insurance company. I heard that if you have State Farm Insurance in Canada they will give you a discount if you install an app on your smartphone that lets them monitor your driving. This is nuts and I don't know why anybody would want that level of surveillance. Big brother watches us enough.
Most of the cost of OnStar for me is offset as I get a discount on my insurance rate when OnStar beams the low miles I drive to State Farm. N/A if I cancel OnStar.

So you pay a monthly fee to OnStar to get an insurance discount because you seldom drive your car
Recurring income for providing almost nothing, it keeps the champagne flowing on the executive transport (aka jet) and is the reason the boy wonders flying aboard it have arrogant condescending smiles on their faces. In their minds its proof they are the chosen who have put one over on the sheep.
And no, lack of tech has nothing to do with it. I build my own PCs, root and install custom roms on my phone, etc. I do recognize it does have one benefit not already covered by my phone in that it can report an air bag deployment. I also recognize that the chance of being in an accident where I am unconscious, trapped in the car, the accident was not seen by another party, the car is not visible from the road, and so on, and my life is then saved by onstar to be less likely than being struck by lightning while having sex on a bed of 4 leaf clovers with three supermodels.
I'm I old? Yes. Am I stupid? Maybe. However that may be the boy wonders can pay for their own damn champagne. Color me not paying, not a chance in hell. Ever. The only thing I get out of Onstar is that we need to start hanging corporate executives at random until they figure out we are displeased with the idea that its ok to steal from people.
Mr Crabs, hang corporate execs for stealing when all transactions in a free economy are voluntary?
I recommend taking that crabby outrage to the government... A group who have taken far money from you and done far worse things with it then any private company.
Onstar is awesome, I dropped 1 **** subscription to budget in my onstar. In other words, budget and spend for where you perceive value.

Is it safe to say you don't like sat radio as well ?

I had Onstar activated during my free period but never saw a need for it, so dropped it. I doubt I'd use Onstar, even if it was free.
- My Nav screen lets me know what direction I'm traveling and leads me to point B
- Center console has built in clock (just sync with cell phone)
- Signed up with my dealership to email me when service is due
- Use my Smart phone for back up Nav, POI's, and to call for assistance if needed
How do you get the compass to display? I have a '14, so it may not be an option for me, though.

Mine does not have this display, or if it does, I have yet to find it, so it does not automatically display. What do you do to get this to display, which buttons or settings?
The closest I can get to the screen in the video is the analog clock with a dot in the middle.

I don't have NAV so when you press the Green NAV arrow at top of screen that is what displays.

Do you know the definition of free market? It is...
NOUN
1. an economic system in which prices are determined by supply and demand with unrestricted competition between privately owned businesses with little or no government and/or other external control...
If our market wasn't largely controlled by a small group of very rich people referencing it as if was actually a free market might mean something but that isn't the world we live in. Nor are all purchases voluntary, many we make because we must and we have no other choice but to make them in the market we do have which is by definition most certainly not a free market. As to politicians your remarks in that regard gave me the best laugh I've had in days. You don't get into high office without selling out to the corps, it is they who run our government in every area in which they have an interest and the politicians themselves are effectively corporate employees in every aspect of government that has any bearing on corporate profits. You don't really think corporations buy 10,000 dollar plates at fund raisers without strings attached do you? lol No, the only way to get in office in the first place is to attain funding and like all income that money has to be earned. They earn it by doing what their corporate masters tell them to do, it really is that simple.
I do think you bring one good point though, there is a lot of rope in this world, more than enough to put some of the corporate puppets called politicians up on the gallows along with their masters.

I liked Sirius when it came out, decent music quality back then and no commercials made it the best source in my car but its now a technology that has been bypassed by better options. I can stream from my phone just as easily with more variety and options for custom stations and that kind of thing while getting higher quality. Then there is the 30 gigs of lossless on my phone and I have a drive with my entire collection. They've tried to get traction in the data game with traffic and the like but Goog does it better. I kept it around for a while after it was not the best option because I sometimes drive in remote areas without cell or radio coverage but when the music quality went down enough that it made my own music collection a better option that ended what little use case remained for it in my car. Think I gave up on it about 4, 5 years ago. I didn't even set up the free year this last go around.

% ? Check with your agent. In most instances, it is minimalist at best and then, the discount is only applied to a specific portion of the policy premium such as that relating to theft. And, some insurance companies require the installation of a tracking device to monitor your driving habits/movements. No thanks .......... Not worth the 10% off the the theft portion of my premium.
