Period Pictures of Cars...
Along with the local high school homecomings, there was the Alton Halloween Parade, where all the high school homecoming queens rode one more time.
Mississippi Valley Corvette Association of Alton, IL provided cars for the Roxana Homecoming parade.
Darby Campbell's 1973
Dennis Vinyard's 1962
Mike Funk's 1963
Just think, all these young ladies are about 57 or 58 today. And those guys, well, they are old!

I remember as a kid, the homecoming parades for the High School... late 70s/Early 80s, but the Court was always driven into the Friday Night Football game in Corvettes.
By the time I was in HS, the tradition had already died.... sad.
My mom with my dad's 64', back around 71' I believe...right before they got married...

He blew the motor in that one and sold it afterwards.
Then here I came along about 6 years later... His 69' 350/350 4spd.

This one is around 79' or 80'. I'm the lil bad *** posing in front of the vette. My parents had just built that new house. My mom still lives there today.

And this pic is of my current 71', I got the pic from the original owner. Somewhere in Nevada when they drove it on vacation from Houston to Nevada in 72'.

I can probably get some more pics from my dad from his other cars... He has owned about 20 vettes or so...and a bunch of other classics.

RIP Jack, you took good care of her and had a lot of fun.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
It is a killer posting pictures like this, all these guys checking out hot babes that are now in their 60s or so.
Just think, all these kids are in their mid 50s now or older. But the cars were just cars then, like the old Chevy truck was just an old Chevy truck.

The second is June 1978 about 3 months before our daughter was born on the weekend I sold the car to pay for the daughter. (it was the best trade I ever made).

I particularly like the wheels on this car. Do you know what brand of wheel these Torque Thrusts are?
I have a few slides that I scanned a while ago of my first Corvette.
I started driving in late 1965, and the first car I had on the road was a 58 Chevy Impala convertible.
My family watched Route 66 every week on tv, and when the 63 stingray was introduced, I knew right then and there, somehow I was going to have one someday, and said so!
I graduated HS in 66, and got a most wonderful graduation gift from my grandmother! A check for $5000 bucks!
I did a very foolish thing with the money, and went right down to the Chevy dealer and got a 67 brochure! Went home and decided what options I wanted, and went back with my father to order the car!
All the photos above were taken during the spring and summer of 67.
I'm in none of them, because all of the sudden, I had friends coming out of the woodwork, and of course they had to drive the car!
