Not that we don't like seeing old Corvettes, but most people didn't have them and they were more rare in the days before they had sold a million of them. " Quote
Yes that is the title of the thread but it this is the C1-C2 section of the forum where C1-C2 items are to be posted. There is a section of the forum titled "Other Cars" for the Vegas, etc..

Actually I was a drag racer even back then. Mine had 4.11's, headers, Melling cam, head milled .070", B-50x13's etc etc. Ran 14.60's which was flying at the time. Spanked new Z-28's and Trans Am's regularly!
I actually still have it...it's on my future "to do list". It's been stored at a buddy's farm for years.
I agree.....this thread isn't just about Vette's. We've all had different cars and it's cool seeing them way back when. Sadly I didn't take many pics back then.

Here are two pictures of a 300 SL from the early 1960s which has always intrigued me with the two-tone paint. The first picture is from an advertising brochure produced by Sigrist Motors in Montclair, New Jersey:
The second was taken in 1963 at Sebring:
It's obviously the same car from the most unusual paint scheme. I've never been able to find out who owned it or what became of it. Does it look familiar to anyone?

Back when I was just a young boy I lived in Danville IL. and my parents would come to Indianapolis In. all the time to different events. I remember a place out on East Washington St. that was called Corvette Corner and it was a used car dealership but it was all Corvettes. My father would drive me and my brother by it every time we came to Indianapolis. Sorry I do not have any pic but maybe someone on here has heard of it or has pic of it. It would have been in the early 60's

63 Z0-6 SMALL TANK Black Red in 1967
''California Canyon Runner'' in 1967. This great car has a great story. Sold new in Southern California, it had three owners that used it at USC as their daily driver. On weekends, it raced the 2 lane canyons and auto cross tracts. Discovered at Pomona Swap in 1998, it moved to Chicago and received a mechanical NCRS frame off back to original Z0-6 specs, as all the parts were were still with the car. Sold again in 2014, the car appeared at 2016 BLOOMINGTON where it received a GOLD Award.

Mike Terry, I used to go to indy to hang out at the pole and cruise the tee pee before going to stout field drags.
I remember the corvette corner and knew of a person that bought a 58 corvette from then. It seemed slow and come to find out it had a 265 cubic inch engine in it. Several months later his friend was getting ready to trade his 62 Vette.
They swapped the 62 327 engine with the 265 in the 58 and traded the 62 for a 63 at the corvette corner. No wonder there are so many NOM Corvettes around.

Used to cruise the south side of Indy on 31. If I remember, we used to hit the Steak and Shake on the east side of the road, then go north and hit the Tee Pee. I always remember Perry Brothers Auto Sales which I think was just south of the Tee Pee. Always had a lot of high performance cars. Corvettes, Hemi cars, etc. Is my memory correct?

Just for fun, here's a scan of the cover of my 1966 Vic Hubbard catalog.

The pace car pics really brings back some memories - I remember drooling over one when I was 11, and it was sitting in a showroom that looked almost just like that!! Memories like that are certainly the reason I have one in my garage today!!

I remember looking at the Pace Cars when new. It was my first taste of "Market Price Adjustments". The dealers were gouging folks like crazy and they were dumb enough to pay it. I still sorta laugh when people drag one out of a garage still wrapped in plastic and it sells for less than they paid for it.

I couldn't afford the pace car in '78 as I was just an A1C (E3) in the USAF at the time. However, this Z28 was sitting next to one on the showroom floor at the Riverside, Ca dealership (near March AFB) so I bought it instead.
