I didn't give up anything really. I reached a point in life where I have more than enough to retire on, so I figured I may as well spend some of it while I'm still of sound mind and body.
The only problem is, I'll never (fully) retire until I'm physically unable to work. To me (and a lot of other entrepreneurs) our work is our life. I'm pumped, energetic, and have a reason to get out of bed in the morning when I have work. Otherwise, I turn into a bum.
"Just kidding" Probably a good thing. You might have found out you aren't Wired for 220 anymore.
We owned four vehicles, but I wanted a Corvette so I just went out and and bought one making it our 5th vehicle. My wife gave up her parking spot inside the garage so I could park my Vette in it's place. Does that count?
My daughter. Shipped her off to the Navy then went out and bought my dream car.
Fell in love with a C3 Stingray that sat in a used car lot when I was a young kid. Didn't much like the body style of the C4 and C5. To me they just look bland/boring without the sexy lines of the C3s. When I first saw the C6, it reignited my love for the vehicle. When my daughter signed up for the Navy, I started shopping. When she shipped out, I pulled the trigger. Next month I'm taking it to Charleston (from Kansas City) to see her and stopping by the NCM and touring the plant.
In response to the posts about getting the wife's permission, I didn't have to worry about that because my dear wife had passed away the year prior. In fact the Altima and the Safari were her cars and I didn't need them anymore. I'd trade all four of them to have her back with me. And, while I wouldn't have had to ask her permission, I probably wouldn't have bought the Vette anyway because it's impractical. She always put up with my car craziness, and I had to talk her into buying the '69 L36 427/390hp coupe. Attachment 48065407
She didn't like Corvettes. She drove the '69 once and absolutely hated it. The clutch was too heavy for her. She was a little gal.
What a beautiful 69..one of my favorite years of the older Vette's. I always enjoy looking at all of the wonderful pictures of everyone's Corvettes.....!!
I had to give up my wife who left for several months to look after a relative with terminal cancer 200 miles away. 2 days before his passing he signed the transfer papers as a gift to my wife. She was offered a choice between the Corvette or a 2015 Infinity Q60S, good choice dear since the Infinity is not fun or exciting to drive and its interior dimensions are best suited for a Japanese midget.
I told them when they get a job and pay their own bills they can buy whatever they want to.
There's something about girls and 4X4s. When my daughter was ready to drive I gave her a choice between her grandmother's '72 Plymouth Scamp coupe with a 318, my '81 Mazda RX7 and my '83 Bronco. She chose the Bronco.
