Last night I was in the process of removing the drivers headlight for a lens change. Got to the point where I removed the three nuts holding the light in. I was about to reach blindly inside to feel for the studs, no gloves on either. I decided at the last second to shine my light in to get a better idea of the stud location. There all nestled up next to the front stud was a beautiful little black widow. Needless to say, she's gone to a better place. I don't like killing things, but I wasn't really wanting to visit the er last night.
Pics a little fuzzy, best I could do one handed.
Definitely reminds me to look twice when I do work on my car. Years ago, before I met her, my girlfriend was helping her dad working on an old car. Brown recluse dropped right on her face. She spent a few days in the hospital.
Haha. Yea, I do need to drive her more. I split drive time between her and my 95 vert, and usually once a week mine and my girlfriends schedules work out to where we carpool.
The biggest reason why she was there is because my previous home was basically in the middle of the woods. When I moved in February to our new home, I found two other black widows hiding in the house we moved from.
Hopefully this is the last I see of any of these!
I don't like spiders at all, but they eat the bugs that I dislike more, kinda the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Damn. Creepy. Good reminder to look before putting your hand in somewhere. Last place one would expect to find one of those. And yes....needs to be driven more. LOL
Ouch!!! We have a lot of those around here. Thats why I started wearing gloves when doing things outside. That would leave a nasty mark for sure. Glad you saw it before putting your hand in there.
And I would have re-homed her....under my right foot.
Great pic and scary reminder. Geez. I saw a guy at a body shop removing a bumper with a impact blind, he accidentally tore the flesh off his middle finger.

Used to see quite a few also. Now have lots of mud daubers so not many blackwiddow spiders left.
