I have the opportunity to get a set of nice looking rims (beauty is in the eyes of the beholder), for my 76.
I do not have much info.
The owner says they were on a 91 C4, and they are currently fitted with 315/35/R17.
And if I understood correctly, the backspacing is 7.5in (although, that sounds like quite a lot).
Obviously, I would have to relocate the parking brake bracket, get an adapter and go down a size or 2 tire wise. And I would also go and have a closer look before striking a deal.
Stock C4 onto C3 seem doable. But these are wider.
What do you think?
Is it reasonable to hope to get them fitted on my 76?
I saw that c4 c5 wheels would require a 4-5 in adapter.
I suspect that anything bigger would need even more and push the wheel outside of the fender ( no flare).
So this is probably a no go then.
Am I correct?

The stock wheel has a 4" bs. Do the math. 7.5"-4"=3.5" A 3.5" wheel adapter will work. With a 17" wheel and stock suspension, you can probably tuck the wheel inward another 0.5" and use a 3" adapter. I have 18"x9.5" wheels with 5.25" bs. I relocated the parking brake bracket and the wheel fits without any spacers/adapters and is flush with the fender arch.

Thanks all for the input.
I checked my math, and with only the backspacing and rim width number, here is what I got:
10in width, 7.5in b/s translates into 2.5in pos offset.
Standard C3 wheel have 4in back spacing, so I would need an adapter to compensate for the difference: 7.5-4=3.5in + 2.5in = 6in.
Now, if I did that wrong, please let me know.
I also removed one of the rear wheel and with a straight edge and some string mocked up a 17x10in wheel with a 5-6in back spacing.
Conclusion, that would be a very very tight fit. The front would most likely be even worst.
So I will pass on the rims and weight for a set of staggered C5 to pop around locally.
Or stick with my 15in turbine, I quite like them anyway.
I ran 285 and then 315/17. For years without flares
I had 6.5 BS wheels with 2 inch adapters. In your case 7.5 BS all you need is 2.5 or 3 inch adapters
Don't worry about all the uneducated who think that adapters are weak
I have to disagree with that as a blanket statement. I would say spend the money to get get quality spacers and you should be fine, cheap spacers are asking for trouble.
if you choose to use adapters use only concentric adapters.
All corvette wheels are designed hub concentric.
I have 1 brand new set of 2" concentric adapters, never mounted qty. of 2
