Default Will 255/60/15 tires fit on the front of a 1976 without rubbing?

I am selling original Aluminum wheels with 255/60/15 tires. Someone with a 1976 is interested but will they rub on the inside of the fender lips on sharp turns?

It is my understanding when they first became an option in 1978, the fender lips were trimmed.

I have 255 / 60's on the front of my '77, and only have a rub on the inside frame rail at full lock....i just back it off a touch when making a sharp turn. No rub at all on the front lip, and my car is lowered about 1 1/2"
I have standard steel wheels and trim rings on mine

255-60-15's

In all likelihood, they will rub. In 1978, the front fender inside lips were trimmed flushed with the fender but not visible to the casual onlooker.

Also the rocker molding was notched and the rocker molding decorative panels called for part numbers that were shorter for the panel when the P255s were called out. So a regular coup when P255s were ordered got the P255 rocker molding as well as the Pace Cars.

So will P255s rub on a 1976...perhaps!

I use BFG 245x60x15 on the front since I didn;t want to cut the front of the fender like the factory did.

255/60 R-15's all the way around on my '73. Slight rub at full lock on drivers side. There is a carriage bolt in the frame and the tire 'polishes' the head of the bolt.

Good luck... GUSTO
