Who's came from a C6 and went to a C7
I loved my 2007 vert...But when I parked my new 2016 vert next to it, it just looked dated. The C7 handles better and is much more polished all the way around. If you can swing it, go for the C7. If not, the C6 is still a great car...just not as great as the C7.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Do me it’s like going from a C4 to a C5 only much better.
I don’t see the C6’s ever being desirable in the future like a C2 or C3.
I would rather keep a C5 than a C6 for collectors pourpose.

Then I upgraded to a C7 Z06 and had to recalibrate. This car is, in all respects, in a completely different class ...

Due to leg problems this is my first Vette with a auto box. Rather big difference over the years and the 15 is quite a decent car. They just keep on getting better and better. This is my 7 Vette, bur sadly going to be in the garage till April up here in the mountains of upper NY state!

The ride is better, the handling is better. Better acceleration. A8 is better (no problems yet). Nicer interior. Engine/trans run cooler.
But...
Longer, wider, and heavier. Bigger on the outside but smaller on the inside. Smaller trunk. Crummy visibility. Overwrought styling.
Electronics are a very mixed bag, designed by a teenage iPhone junkie- Lots of information in the dash but some of it is irrelevant and requires distracting scrolling through menus. Nav system only displays scale for 5 seconds. Seat belt warning starts dinging even before the car moves. Etc.
The C7 is a great car but full of "WTF were they thinking?" features, stuff that the C6 got just right but now are worse. My dream car would have the powertrain and suspension of a C7 installed in a C6 body.
1) The rearward visibility is much worse in the C7, particularly around the rear quarter panels.
2) Low speed tire scrubbing is much worse in the C7.
3) What the heck are the humps on the steering wheel at 10 and 2 o'clock for? I like to drive with my hands in that position and I find these humps very irritating. I notice that it is very common now on newer sporting type cars.

2. Get a set of Michelin All-Season Pilot Sports....problem solved.
3. When driving on a track, those “bumps” provide a handy reference for where to properly keep your hands when negotiationg turns around the course. At least that’s my experience and opinion.

Excellent Points!VISIBILITY: The rear visibility is definitely worse than my '88, '93 and 2008 C6! In fact did not use small convex "blind spot mirrors" on those Vettes or my other cars/trucks. BUT the C7 and especially my Grand Sport with the optional Stage 2 aero package that has side spoiler "extensions"-almost as bad as a Vert with the top up!
I added small oval "blind spot mirrors and the one on the driver's side is a big help, IMO! (Before anyone says "just adjust your mirrors properly," been doing that since around 1995 after reading the SAE tech paper that said adjust your driver's side mirror but putting your head on the window etc etc. However if you read the multi-page paper about "defensive driving " or even the graphic below, you need to be able to follow a car from the rear mirror to when it is visible in the side mirror. It's very important to know who will be on your rear bumpers BEFORE they get there!) The C7 rear visibility is limited and does not allow that to be done well.
Also agree with the narrow passenger rear side window. Have to enter a 4 lane divided hughway at the end of our street. Lots of traffic in both directions, especially in the summer. Have to go into the narrow divider at an angle when traffic allows or would have to wait "forever" to make a left. With my C6 did the same as now with the wife's SUV, pull in at a 45 degree angle +- 10 degrees. With the C7 have to pull in very carefully and stop at an angle where I can see oncoming traffic. That is about a 30 degree angle with little tolerance! In fact I look through that window and stop at the angle where I can see some of the oncoming traffic!
CHATTER: Yep love the tires but chatter is so much worse than the C6! However it's the race car construction that givers the Michelin the superior traction to the same width tires I had in my Z51 C6 as my Z51 C7. The Grand Sport wider tires are not much worse and the same solution works: JUST TURN THE WHEEL LESS IN SLOW SPEED MANEUVERS AND MAKE "K" TURNS. I do that when it's below ~45 F! Did that after backing out of the garage this year when it was 24F and NO CHATTER compared to the full lock turn I use when warmer. Easy workaround to compensate for the 1.2 "gs" I can achieve when it's warm!

STEERING WHEEL BUMPS: Actually they don't bother me. I almost always have two hands on the wheel when driving the Vette and that is where I keep them.
This graphic was made from the info in the 1995 SAE paper on defensive driving. Some folks don't read the right side just how to adjust the mirrors part! It's important to know what cars will soon be at your rear bumper NOT just who is there NOW! The C7 Coupe visibility though the rear window is poor and limits that ability. Verts are worse!
In ~60 years of driving have never had an accident with another car! That is due to 1) LUCK and 2) Knowing where all cars are around me at all times. That means continually looking in all mirrors all the time!
