I recently noticed the corners of my $450 OEM hatch WS started to look like they were going to start to split, not gonna happen so it did what I could to keep it from happening. I’ve found the very best thing to use on WS is the Plastidip stuff they make for tools. I first used this stuff to fix a hole in one of the B pillar WS,if I didn’t point it out you would never know it was a hole. The first picture is of the B pillar,I fixed a hole awhile ago. That white glue on the WS was what was used to glue the thing together from the factory.
Yeah the OEM stuff was designed to fail. The corners always go first at least the aftermarket Wilcox replacement tried to reinforce the corners. Nice find Jeff I would have not to thought to use plastic dip. Look alike a decent repair. I have good luck with black RTV. What's the drying time? GC

I give it 24 hours,I’ve got the car in the garage with the hatch open,I’ll put one more pass once this is setup. I’ve never liked the way the RTV looks once it’s setup, the Plasidip is easier to work with and smooths our pretty good. I’ve never really paid attention to how the hatch closes but it is
A poor design the way the window pushes the WS away from the window when the hatch closes. Another option is to completely fill the corners of the WS with this stuff.
Looks great
How do you apply the Plasti Dip?
Looks like it comes in the can shown........how long will it last once you open up the can?
I cut up an old credit card and shaped the end to match the contour of the corner. Once open you want to keep the can as airtight as possible but it still dries out over time. The can costs about $11.00
but if I can keep the WS from splitting it’s worth it. I’m also going to make a guide that goes over the corners and keep the window from hitting in this area.
For the rear hatch lower front seams/corners I believe that Marc H has a 'preferred' product and procedure. I've not seen it mentioned for many/many years so maybe there's certainly newer and better BUT I'd maybe ask. I believe at one time it was actually listed in his 'Services Menu'.
Nice job, I have a few places on my B pillar getting worn. My weather stripping at the corner had all ready split so I cut a piece of rubber in an L shape glued it in one end than when dry the other.
My $75 aftermarket 10year old hatch WS is not splitting
Truer words have never been spoken!!!
Have seen enough evidence to convince me.
Some of the cheap ones however stick to the glass and peel apart.
Keep them lubricated with "gummi" and that won't ever happen.

Jeff, what did you clean the surface with be for applying Plasti-Dip?
I scrubbed it with Simple Green and a toothbrush and then wiped it with alcohol. I’m going to make a small cover for this area with some thin clear vinyl. As stated, considering how the window comes down and pushes on the WS it’s almost impossible to keep the corners from separating without doing anything to prevent it from happening.
