I just installed a set of SDX 9006 6000K HID's on my 2001 Z06 and every single time I try to turn them on fuse # 9 and 10 get blown. This in turn shutsdown the ability turn on the headlights and makes it impossible to close the headlight covers until I replace 9 and 10 with two new fuses.
What would cause these two fuses to blow every single time.
I put the hot on the positive battery cable and the two grounds in two places.
I am using a 9006 HID relay harness with 1 power wire and 1 ground for each ballast plus 1 9006 connector on each side of the car. There was no ground to the battery with this harness.
The grounds that I have tried so far are these two
The ground rings are just sitting over top of these two studs which are pushed farther down on the metal posts.
I have also tried tightening down the ground rings here and they still won't work. The HID's will not turn on.
I'm wondering if it is okay to extend the two grounds and run them both to the battery or would that create issues?

Something is not adding up here. It seems you are installing 9006 Low Beam HIDs and Fuse 9 and 10 are blowing up. But Fuse 9 is Right High Beam, while Fuse 10 is Left Low Beam...
Have you checked your connections to verify if they are correct? On the other hand, I'm not sure about your grounds: have you tested your grounds with a multimeter to verify if they are good grounds?
You could go directly to the negative post in the battery or piggyback to one of the ground points:
Sorry about that, its actually fuse numbers 8 and 10
I did go back and check my grounds for continuity and as it turns out there was none at all. The multimeter stays at 1.
The one spot I did find close to each headlight was here
the three screws on each side of the hood had a continuity of 3.2 to 6.5. It is nowehere the 0.1 to 0.6 range, but it might work.
Almost everywherelse I tested with a multimeter that was close to the headlights didn't show any continuity. However the best result came from the screw in bump stops that hold the hood up near the front.
