Default Cruising and you hit a road debris HAHA

So what's the worst debris you have come across? We have all been out cruising and seems like always some road debris hits the car and I end up pulling into a parking lot to check the vette out. Man I tell u I have had Mercedes my whole life but haven't had such bad OCD until this 2018 Z purchase.

My first car.. Way back in 1999 in a Honda Prelude with fiberglass body kit and hit a tire on highway doing 80mph. Took half the bumper off.

Had a lot of small debris hit the Z06 on the highway here in Georgia and it really sucks.

Ouch. I put on a stage 2 splitter from ACS and I'm saving my poverty splitter for this very reason.

I have been very lucky in the Vette, close calls with all of the standard run of this mill ****. The other day I just missed a big fat porkchop raccoon that ran out in front of me in broad daylight (wtf?). The amount of highway trash is unreal these days. My pet peeve is gravel kicked up from the shoulder by drivers who haven't yet acquired the skills to keep all 4 tires on the pavement. Curves in the road are worst.

Last year while driving through Nashville in the GS, I juuuust missed an 8 ft long 4x4 piece of lumber.

eight foot long retread cast-off from a 18-wheel semi-tractor trailer cab … bad news ...

A good friend of mine had a turkey fly into his driver's side mirror and take it right off the car. He had only had the new Z06 for a couple of weeks when it happened.

No problems with my current Z06....yet. My last one ran over some sort of a pipe on an on ramp and the rear wheel on the passenger side drove it right through the inner fender and shredded the RR tire.

Armadillo. Cracked the splitter and sounded like a bomb going off. Awful morning joy ride.

Just this past weekend.....cruising down a crowded 4 lane highway behind a pickup truck and out of nowhere a freaking mountain bike comes flying over the top of the pickup and hits the road exploding right in front of me. (SUV in front of truck lost their bike rack) Barely made it around that one and luckily this was while in the far left lane so I had room to move further to the left to miss it. While not a "hit", it was a damn close call. If not in the vette, my other vehicles probably wouldn't have been agile enough to miss it...

2011 ZR1. Coming back from Petite LeMans in early morning darkness. Hit a small deer with driver side front corner. Broke splitter and broke supercharger coolant tank. Ended up costing almost $7k...front splitter was over $2k of that. Bumper cover looked fine except for a few light scuffs (and fur in the seam) and body shop considered buffing it out to preserve original paint. But mount tab was torn underneath so it was replaced. Body shop did an EXCELLENT job painting new bumper cover (black) and was happy with repairs. Not so happy with deer population.

On my C5 I hit a shredded truck tire. Bumper and Quarter panel had to be replaced. Some years later when I was about to sell the car my wife hit some rancid road kill. Took me a couple of days to get the smell off the tires and wheel well.

2007 Z06 at the time: heading out to Summit Point Raceway for a track day. I came upon the results of what looked like: 18-wheeler vs deer. Guess which one of those lost? I couldn't avoid the carcass given my speed, so I hit the gas to make the nose lift a little. Jumped the carcass and cracked the front clip along the bottom of it.

I picked up some... uh... extra protein during my "excursion". I actually ran the track day like that and cleaned the car off when I got home. My Lab was with me in the garage while I scoured the underside of the car. He seemed enthused with the chunks of charred venison I was knocking off the car for some reason.

Ewwww... ;-)

In my Z-06 I had a head on with a oncoming hub cap. Hit the splitter, jumped up and came down on my bumper. Got 2 dimples and Xpel would not have saved it.
Other than that, in my Dually I hit a drunk man while skidding in on all 6 at 40mph during impact who was trying to commit suicide. He looked dead but survived with only bruises.

you can see the dimple in the reflection of the florescent lights.
