56-57 rain gutters below rear of windshield frame
All 56 and early 57 cars had the short rain gutter. As I have understood it, sometime later during 57 production, a switch was made to a long gutter.
I have seen, but do not have a copy of, a service letter with instructions for adding a long gutter to 56 cars and early 57 cars as a result of water running down into the interior and carpet. A person has told me that his late 57 has the short gutter. SOOOOOOOOOO, does anyone know when the switch from short to long gutter occurred?
This is the original short gutter and the long gutter which I added over 45yrs ago to the 56. Ya, ya, ya, ya, I know chrome gutters were not factory, but I did tons and tons of chrome plating to the 56 because I worked at a chrome shop when I was in college.

Maybe they ran out of the long ones. Like vettepoor above, my '57 is a very late car with the short gutters.

I'm not sure if this is helpful to the conversation, but you can see this area in a photo taken in the spring of 57. This is serial number 132 sold Oct 22nd, 1956 in Panama City, FL. My mother-in-law when they were dating. Original owner car. Yes the car came new with a matching cove color hardtop.

I owned 57, #5631 in the early 90’s. Early July production. It had the short rain gutters.
