Default High Rise ACI 80-82 rear bumper opinions/pictures

Hi all

Apologies for yet another post but for the life of me I can’t find any info on this.

Does anyone have any pictures of the high rise rear bumper on a C3?

https://www.corvettemods.com/C3-Corvette-1975-1982-ACI-1980-1982-High-Rise-Style-Rear-Bumper_p_15312.html

The closest I could find was part of a Greenwood kit.

I currently have the pace car spoiler and I like the height but not 100% sold on it going over the rear quarter panel.

conversely, while I like the 80-82 style, another 1-2” on the spoiler would be perfect IMO.

anyway, if anyone has any pictures I’d love to see them!

cheers

There was just a thread on that, here:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ar-bumper.html

That Greenwood spoiler is still made by Fiberglass Mike in Orlando (and on Facebook). A PO put it, or a similar repro bumper, on my 79, after cleaning off the mold seams, and filling the "Greenwood" lettering.

Thanks @Bikespace , I did see your car (and love the look) but doesn’t appear to be the same bumper (recesses in the spoiler). Any idea if the lip is the same height?

I couldn't find any indication of the origin of my bumper. It could be from Fiberglass Mike, ACI, or even Greenwood. But any script, or those two big rectangles, have been filled, or were never part of the mold. I'm fairly certain the lip on all of these examples is the same. It is taller than the Pace Car spoiler. Perhaps ACI will custom make one for you, without the rectangles?

Gotcha!

I just pinged them - honestly I don’t mind/actually like the recess, I’d just like to see it installed on a car

hopefully they have some example pics they can provide.

thanks for your input!

My ACI bumper on a 78 for trial fitting.

Rear View. I wasn't fond of the recesses, and have since filled them in. ACI doesn't have one without the recess.

A pic I found on the forum...owner not known

Another pic from the forum...owner unknown.
They're a little outrageous. I think they fit right in with the rest of the C3 styling.

Thank you!!!

This is exactly what I was looking for, I swear I’ve spent hours typing in combinations of high rise rear bumper search terms

I’m sold on the look. Yours turned out amazing!

Here are some more high-rise bumper photos that I've collected. The orange car was found on Fiberglass Mike's Facebook page. The others, I don't know where I found them. The slammed C3 from Japan was featured on this Forum (I think that's a stock 80-82 bumper, with additions)

If you go this route, please let us know (perhaps in your build thread)!

Here's an update from @dzhrp7. Amazing work!

I was concerned about too thick body filler or glass. So I used balsa sheet to fill much of the relief. Hey, the boat guys do this and get away with it.

I used fiberglass mat and epoxy resin over the balsa to completely fill the recess.

This shows the filled recesses. Ready for final prep and paint.

Other modifications included two exhaust scallops and provision for tag LEDs and a back-up camera.

After paint, but not polished out.

Some pictures of the ACI bumper on the car. BTW, I think ACI makes a quality product, and are good to work with.
