Default Rear Bumper

I'm I correct that a 1981 corvette rear bumper is interchangeable to fit a 1975 corvette

The 75 looks great as is!

I somewhat agree, although I wouldn't go as to far as to call them grotesque or gaudy. Of course I want a chrome bumper car, but until then, I really prefer the '74 front and rears over the '75 and later, for the smooth look without the rubber "bumperettes". Not the stock '74 in the rear, however, with the split, but the aftermarket smooth one piece. I never even looked at all these details until I ended up with a '74 with 'glass replacement bumpers front and rear done by previous owner. Before I painted the car, I considered changing them, but decided I like them the most. Opinions vary, that's the spice of life!

This is the bumper 74-79 Vettes should have come with. It screams Late-70s to me. It's taller and cleaner than the Pace Car slap-on spoiler, only I don't know where it came from. If I ever needed to replace it, I might be forced to put an 80-82 bumper on.

OP, good luck with what you decide, and please post some before and after photos!

I've never found the '78 up rear spoiler gaudy, I just think it looks better with a big back window.
For me the flying buttress roofline seems to continue even further with the sloped tail end...

Just to be clear, I was not saying the 81 rear looked grotesque or gaudy. I just meant that was the way the trend was heading in the 80s - something like what this guy did (no offense if he posts here, lol).

As stated, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Mine, well I think it looked naked stock. I added the spoiler back in the 90's. wouldn't change it. To each there own.

I think I know who made this bumper. He also makes fiberglass radiator supports. Let me search and see if I can find his info.

I did a google search for "Fiberglass Mike Corvette" and found his Facebook page. He makes Greenwood replica parts.

That's it exactly! Mine has the "Greenwood" script filled in, and the mold seams sanded out. Mike is still making them in Orlando.

OP, if you want a cool, clean, tall-spoiler bumper, there is a source.

Here's a related thread with the same bumper but with 80-82 taillights.
