So I have a 98 a4 noisy fuel pump which I'm use to but when I use my blinkers I can hear the noise from fuel pump going on ,off just like the blinker is there any way of quieting this noise or getting rid of it besides replacement of fuel pump its driving me crazy thanks
The fuel pump on the C-5's are noisy -- To compund the issue it is 24" behind you!! Almost all other vehicles it is 6' behind you so even if it did make some noise you would never hear it. I know mine will be a little louder if I'm below a 1/2 tank of gas.....the air space doesn't dampen the sound like a full tank would.
There are many write ups on changing the fuel pump - not too hard from what I see on the earlier C5's.
About a foot to the right of the steering wheel there is a **** that when turned to the right about 3/4 a turn will cover up the fuel pump noise. Works best with a lil Steppenwolf 'Born to be Wild'.

I can't believe I found somebody who actually has the exact same fuel pump noise issues as me. My turn signals also fluctuate the noise. Did you even find a fix for it?
Please post here and send me a PM to my email. actionemail@yahoo.com
Sometimes, I just like to hear the purr of the Engine's Corsair exhaust without any sound input from my fuel pump or radio. Anybody actually have an alternative fix for this annoying noise other than the GM factory recall fix which is, of course, not available any longer?
I'm on my fourth fuel pump. They all make a loud noise and pulse to the beat of my turn signal flasher. Changing the pump has been a waste of time and money for me. I need a real fix as the noise is so loud, that's all I can concentrate on when I'm driving the car. ANYBODY/ HELP!!

That member hasn’t been active on the Forum since 2012 so I doubt he will be contacting you.
If you’re on your 4th fuel pump it’s NOT the pump !!…the ground G401 is the ground for the fuel pump AND the rear tail/stop/turn lights…G401 is on the left frame rail inboard of the left rear tire and you can see it if you peek in there…if you have a bad ground the pump may be struggling to run with that increased resistance… that may be your issue…I have the pump and rear turn signal wiring diagrams below…there is a splice pack in that circuit which may have high resistance..I don’t know if you know how to read a wiring diagram…if you have a test light the ground can be checked but a high beam bulb would be better to use…you’d have to access the fuel pump connector and disconnect it to check.
CarCam: I have to put in my two cents and say changing the pump won't help. I have on my fifth pump. They all start whining on a hot day after driving a long distance.
Very funny. I actually tried that but you know, the noise is so loud at times that the radio does not drown it out. I like Hotel California myself. : <)
Properly hard wire the fuel pump using a large diameter wire and unnecessarily large relay
Simply take the original fuel pump wire as the relay activation for the new wire set
in a performance vehicle the fuel pump should be fed and grounded by itself using much larger relays wires than necessary
