Default ORPHAN VIN-stamped parts and documents- list here

Member Chip6565 recently asked the question whether the Corvette Forum should open up a section for "orphan" documents and parts with VINs- ala NCRS' site.

I picked up on this as I thought it was a great idea years ago, and others did too.

What we are going to do to start with is start a thread up in the Sticky area to allow members with documents and parts with VIN numbers to match those up with current owners of the car they belong to. Please note that this is NOT a place to list "Items Wanted." This section will provide a place where people who have items with VINs and are looking for the cars to match them to.

Administration tells me if this gets busy, they will look at opening a complete section dedicated to Orphan items of all generations. As of today, I am opening these sections in C1/2 and C3 forums.

Thanks very much and please participate if you would like. Feel free to comment or ask questions as well.

So, if you have documents pertaining to a C3 Corvette that has a VIN, or original parts with VINs stamped on them and you would like to use this forum to try to reunite them with the owners, please post your information here. All arrangements, payment, and whatever related details are involved will be a private issue between the parties. (Of course we would LOVE to hear any success stories that result!)

Sounds like a great idea!

This same ORPHANED sub forum doesn't seem to be getting too much activity on the NCRS TDB? Perhaps the larger audience here will have better results!

I too, would love to hear the stories!

ok, what the hey.

I bought this Protecto plate on ebay because it is close to my vin#, but it is not my vin number, so maybe somebody actually has this 1968.

194678S405710

Of course the plate is inscribed with original owner's name and address and options are indicated on the pop selling dealer, etc 12-19-67

What I have is the 71's window sticker but the top portion where the dealers name would be is cut off, also have two separate sales contracts, one from Reedman (selling dealer) & an installment sales contract from Pa. DMV .
I also found a few documents for a 1967 Coupe (194377S114304)that I had from Hawthorne (New Jersey) Auto Sales, A sales contract stamped "PAID" , A NYS Tax Clearance Certificate, also a (yellow) receipt from Hawthorne Auto sales with figures about the "deal". In addition to an estimate for body work for that '67 Coupe when some jackass ran a stop sign & hit me on the r/s fender & door. I will gladly surrender these papers to who ever wound up with these two cars,,,,,,,,,, FOR FREE ! But they would have to have current proof of their ownership along with current pix's. Peace,,, moosie

I have an owner's manual and other documents in the original packet from a '73 that I owned some years ago. No idea if the car is still around but the VIN is 3S411354. It was sold new on 3/30/73 in Tacoma WA

Everyone, I'm starting to have to delete too many posts here. Please read the OP:

What we are going to do to start with is start a thread up in the Sticky area to allow members with documents and parts with VIN numbers to match those up with current owners of the car they belong to. Please note that this is NOT a place to list "Items Wanted." This section will a place where people who have items with VINs and are looking for the cars to match them to.

This thread is for people who have VIN marked items they would like to see get matched up with the cars they go to. Please do not post items, cars, info etc wanted here. That can go in the General or Parts section. Thanks.

A good idea. It would be nice if something like this could get going. I bought my first Vette new in 1969, and many more since. I have paperwork for the following:

1969 Fathom Green Vert #10415
1971 Silver Vert #11817
1973 M Blue Vert 454 #01293
1976 Brn Cpe # 13681
