Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I just purchased a 2001 magnetic red C5 and I'm loving it! There is so much good info on the forum i already purchased a ACI rear spoiler and the upgraded headlights. If you guys can help me out and post some of your c5's with black rims that would be huge! The previous owner before me only put 13,000 miles on the car but the rims started to pit. I was thinking about powder coating them black but I'm afraid to take the plunge if it looks like dookie. Please help me out

I love black wheels even though I went back to a machined polish. Not sure how they look on that darker shade of red. I would think a gunmetal or copper shade would contrast better. Lets see some pics !
Car is getting dropped off next week to have the spoiler put on and headlights should be here next week. So Ill post more photos when the mods are on. Really stumped on the black rims, I think it looks sick on your guys cars
You could also try to plastidip your current wheels to get an idea of what it would look like black. Only costs a couple bucks and you can peel it off if you don't like it
I can offer some input... not so much for or against black wheels. Aesthetics are a matter of personal taste. But is much better to do your homework before you make the purchase then after..
AS a design engineer , I have a good eye for design, and bringing things together.
MY biggest problem with an all black wheel is that it sits right next to an all black tire, which is surrounded by an all black wheel well. I like a black wheel with a polished or chrome lip, polished would be my choice.
AS far as the wheels on your car now...they do nothing for the car, in my opinion.. they are too bling bing and the design is less than I would want to see on my car.
The next point is that your car's color may not benefit by an all black wheel, but would be good with a little break up, like I said a polished lip and maybe a center cap that would bring in the mag red color..
This forum and its inhabitants can tell you all about their wheels and why they chose them.. but I would never buy wheels based on what someone else likes. SO here is the deal.. look at some wheels.. take a side shot of your car and post it, and many of us can Photoshop the wheel of your choice into your photograph ... bottom line is it should be something you like, not something someone else likes.
With all due respect , the sooner you get those wheels off your car, the better you will feel. IM guessing the previous owner liked them but you are in a hurry to toss them...and I can see why.
The other point with an all black wheel , all black tire, and all black wheel well, is that you miss an opportunity to put something there that will be recognizable day or night, not something that blends into the shadows.
I'm not going to show you my wheels on purpose because you are just feeling your way around to see if black wheels will do it for you, and IM just offering my opinion from an aesthetic design point of view.
Take a few days, and with the help of the guys here, you will find something that will make the purchase the right purchase.
Good luck

Here is a picture that I purposely posted before... as you can see the black tire wheel and wheel well, blend into the shadow... the car is nice but could benefit by a wheel that would better define the corners.
