2001 Mag red with machined and Black Cup wheels. Those wheels you have on there in general need to go doesn't matter in chrome or black. There is a lot of options out there look around and find some more wheels fitting of a Corvette.

Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I just purchased a 2001 magnetic red C5 and I'm loving it! There is so much good info on the forum i already purchased a ACI rear spoiler and the upgraded headlights. If you guys can help me out and post some of your c5's with black rims that would be huge! The previous owner before me only put 13,000 miles on the car but the rims started to pit. I was thinking about powder coating them black but I'm afraid to take the plunge if it looks like dookie. Please help me out
Not a fan of black wheels . I think what you got on there now look GREAT but, it's your car, what ever makes you happy.
Good luck with you new ride and Welcome aboard
Polished, or chrome wheels aren't inherently bad, but yours are. Black wheels look better (for me) on most primary colors, but met. red looks better with chrome, or dark gray. Those copper wheels look like old Subies.
Here is a picture that I purposely posted before... as you can see the black tire wheel and wheel well, blend into the shadow... the car is nice but could benefit by a wheel that would better define the corners.
The only thing missing in that pic are the milk crates underneath the car. It looks like it was left in the 'hood too long and someone jacked it up and stole the wheels off of it.

Plain black wheels are not for me, don't like 'em even on 4x4's. I like some contrast against the black, dull tire. I love chrome and and all of the crazy shapes that incredible CNC machines can achieve, tho' some still should be melted back into a billet to try again. The wheels on your (OP) car are out of proportion (especially for a Corvette) in too many ways to discuss and are just not eye pleasing. You're doing a good thing to replace them.
I don't think it's too much of a reach for many people to understand that many of us who do not like black wheels are influenced by the fact that when we were kids and becoming car fans/nuts, a plain wheel was typical of the low end, or 'stripped' version of most cars. One of the first things one would do was to put hubcaps on the car so it would look more 'upscale'. If one looks at the beautiful cars of the 20's and 30's, occasionally one would see a bit of chrome (or brass), but many of those wheels were masterpieces in simplicity plus enhancement like contrasting colors, pinstriping and other elements of style.
