These valve cover bolts have been leaking for a while. Never thought nothing of it, till I read it is possible blow by. Is that what I have? Also, my car will get up 230 Fahrenheit in stop and go. Comes down quick at speed. Yes, I know LT1s run hotter than most. But that's too high for my taste. Will cleaning the grass between the condenser and radiator help in stop and go?

Fans should come on at approx. 226 and off 208. A different thermostat may help. Cooling fans are intended when car is below 40 mph. Clearing debris also will help ...it's not supposed to be there. Outside temp and humidity is always a factor, but it is a little early in the year for such a condition.

Seabright, thank you. Yes, my fans work
kevova, it does exactly that. At least at idle.
Everytime the car gets 210, I turn the AC on so the fans kick on when I am moving.
dt86, I see your point. I think I'm gonna remove the fan shroud this friday, and clean the debris. Do you guys think that will be enough room to get the debris out?

Id say no worries regarding the valve cover bolts... looks normal to me from the LT engines I have owned.... Just make an attachment for your vacuum or chop vacuum using smaller hose or old garden hose and duct tape.. Gotta get creative sometimes.
I got really lucky once driving by someone's house and saw an old shop vac at the trash pile.... it had the hose attachment which was much smaller than mine, so I snatched it up... I use it allot to this day for things like this.

Got up about two hours earlier than I needed to. So I started to pull the shroud. It's out, and not as dirty as it looked through passenger side peek hole. See the crud between the fins? Can't get it out with the vacuum. 1st pic is with the vacuum once over. 2nd pic is the crud. Do I have to get that out as well? Seems like the radiator is only being held by the radiator hoses?

Put a 90 degree fitting on an air hose and blow out from engine side to the front if you don't want to remove cooling hoses and trans cooler lines. Don't push the crud in towards the engine. Same for AC condenser.

Sorry for not updating. I ended up runing water through the fins. Got a amount of it out. Car is running 5 to 10 degrees cooler. Thanks everyone. Tip for anyome that will remove the shroud. On the passenger side, use a 1/4 ratchet, extension and a 6mm socket to get the 3 bolts at the bottom of the shroud. Driver side, I had to move AIR out of the way. Didn't take it out, just moved aside. Gear wrenches will help as well for the lower bolts. Everything else is pretty straight forward.
