Default Lawn Sprinklers are wetting car.

Hey guys n gals,
My car sits outside during the summer months. (In the driveway) The lawn sprinklers are hitting the car and touching the rotors. Should I be concerned? I know they are getting a little rusty, but when I pull out I hear a bang then all is good! I think its just the calipers against the rotors. What do you think?

I don't know where in NYS you are, but here in the western part we are having the second wettest spring on record.

As soon as you drive the car the rust on the rotors will be gone.

Turn the lawn sprinklers off. On a more serious note...I seriously doubt if water is going to hurt your car. Its not made out of salt or sugar, it will be ok. What happens when you wash it? Does it get wet?

If you have hard water it could leave marks on the paint when it dries. I have to make sure i get all the water off before it dries on my vehicles.

I know from personal experience that if hard water from sprinklers stays on the car and the sun bakes it in you will have a problem. I had hard water marks from my sprinklers on both the paint and the windows that were nearly impossible to completely get rid of. After much work with clay bars, vinegar and water solutions and different polishes used with a random orbital buffer they were mostly removed.

As long as the sprinklers come on when the sun is down, you shouldn't have to worry. The sun can bake on hard water stains and they're a pain to remove, especially from dark colors.

When selling the car, be sure to let the new buyer that it got wet. Pretty much a salvage title car now.

Wow, no kidding. Rain rain rain.

And last year we had a drought. I don't mind that as long as my well doesn't go dry or food prices go up -- neither of which happened.

My best friend is a farmer, he's always bitching about the weather: Last year the hay wouldn't grow from lack of water, this year he can't get in the fields -- ground's too wet.

I'm glad my income never depended on the weather.
