Mine is a DD. I have bought garage queens and guess what? Those owners lost money, too. The only thing I have found is the GQ will sell faster. I would rather drive mine as much as I can while I still can

I would be stuck in the house if I couldn't/wouldn't drive in the rain.

Love the "downfall" reference.

Last time I got caught in the rain on a road trip, it took me 4 hours to clean my car. All the road dirt and grime turns to sludge that gets packed in all the nooks and crannies under your car. This is why I don't like to drive in the rain, I'd rather drive my Caddy.

I'm not so sure it's being afraid, more like getting their pride and joy filthy. If you look at a lot of cars, Corvettes included, a lot of owners like to drive on the edge of tire tread depth, too, which can cause odd handling in deep or hard rain (think: aquaplaning).

I will say, a long time ago with a different Corvette, I drove in completely dry weather up to a friend's house. As I rounded a rural-road bend, there was an unavoidable "wash" of milky water crossing the road. When I got to my friend's house I asked for a hose. Inside the wheel wells, the wheels, rockers, etc. was a slurry of cement mix not-so-slowly drying. This was when I could "pop the hood" (C4) and get access to the entire wheel well area, suspension, etc. Had I let it dry, it would have been very difficult to remove, cement being that way. I'd much rather have had my suv that day.

For me...It's not the rain or getting the car dirty! It's the other drivers that scare me! I am more relaxed with my pickup or any other car. But it's my corvette and I'm a little more cautious because I don't trust other drivers. They get stupid when it rains or snows!

It means you don't care for your car.

Mine is a DD and I drive it rain or shine, unless there's a tropical store in the forecast.

My vert is a show car. I don't even use water to clean it, much less want to drive on filthy roads in the rain that would result in many hours of cleaning. I spend enough time cleaning it as it is.

Rain, snow, dirt road, who cares.

I've driven mine in snow more than once just because I got stuck out in it. Not a big deal. Not ideal, and wouldn't go out trying to do it, but ohh well, its just a car.

Because I don't have to and I don't want to. Between company vehicles and personal vehicles I have plenty to make it possible. I think its silly to put all my money into one car that cost as much as it does with the history it has. For all you young pups that bought it as your one and only car and could barley afford it, Have fun with that.

Here is me getting ready to go out on a race track and *gasp* in the rain. Oh my! Not much will stop me from driving my car, and you learn alot in the rain if you have any idea what you are doing. I drive right through the rain on R compound tires (at least while I still have tread left). Just take it easy on the go pedal and avoid standing water if possible. I drive a different line in the rain. Basically just need to find the traction, avoid painted surfaces at all costs and be smooth (no abrubt inputs).

It is carefully hand washed once a week either way so a little rain doesn't bother me.

hahaha! Yeah. It means you don't care for it.
I daily mine. I think if you leave yours in the garage for any reason, it means you don't care for it..
and I'll put mine next to anyone on here's "show car", rain or shine.

I put over 12k miles on my vert the first year I owned it, so it gets driven plenty. I just prefer not to make extra work for myself when I don't have to. That's what my DD is for.

Oh, and there's a reason why my license plate says what it does.

Anyone ever heard of "acid rain"? That's what keeps me from driving in the rain. I'll just admire mine while it sits in my garage and drive my truck......or my wife's car!

While I like to keep her clean, it was a great learning experience to take her out on the track in the rain for my first session. Coming from modified AWD Subaru WRX STIs, I wanted to feel the rear end get a little loose and how easy it was to modulate that. Rain was a perfect environment as it exaggerates and punishes any mistakes. Overly aggressive inputs of any kind - throttle, brakes or steering were not well received, but I was pleasantly surprised at just how easy it was to correct. Rain teaches the need for smooth inputs and good lines, which might be different than the usual lines in order to avoid standing water. I liked the car when I bought her. Loved the car after after the first track session!
