What is the best method to stop the creaking sound from the roof?

I usually have that problem when it's stowed under the hatch

Plumbers silicone grease on the metal parts and Griot's Vinyl and Rubber Dressing on the rubber solved mine.

is it a loud creak?

mine turned out to be dirty washer/pivot points.

Took apart the handle (T35? i think?), cleaned, lithium greased, and it went away.

I always use dielectric grease on all mounting points, and small rubber o-rings on pins.
