1962 Rims and Tires??
My buddy Troy told me I had to join this awesome forum, so here I am.
I’m hoping someone can help me, I’ve just got my first vette, 1962 and I’m going to put some Torque Thrusts on there and I’m wondering what’s the widest tire I can fit under it, without actual trial and error and was hoping one of you would know and let me know.
Thanks in advance!
Tim

I have AR TTD 15x6" wide wheels on my 62, and 235's are as wide as you want to go on the rear. I run 215's on the front, since turning is easier than with wider tires (with the original manual steering).
245's were possible (according to my measurements) on the rear, but that did not take in body mount differences that occurred in production, rear leaf spring & rubber bushing deflection, etc. I have had the 235's on the rear since 2000 with no issues.

Oddly enough, the specs listed on Tire Rack are 3.54" (for what appear to be the same rims - VN105xxxx).......as listed here:

The "standard" backspacing on the AR TTD 15"x6" wheels has been 3.66", as listed here:

Also, my 1966 Vette with 1970 new purchased AR TTD rims had the same backspacing, so I do think there is a commonality across the AR line (again, only speaking of the 15x6 rims).
The fact that Tire Rack has a different backspacing (for the same rim) makes me a tad suspicious.......and I would question them, prior to any purchase.
Since the OP asked specially about Torque Thrust rims, I assumed he was talking about American Racing Torq Thrust rims. Other aftermarket rims, that look like AR TTD rims, obviously could be all over the map (backspacing wise, as well as other dimensions, and quality).

I was speaking of what are currently listed on the linked websites (AR and Tire Rack) , which I hope are selling current product, but also my 2000 new purchased 15x6 TTDs have the 3.66" back spacing.

But is it also possible that they are not measuring the same thing?
My Western Wheels have a raised lip along the inside edge. I've seen where people either consider or don't consider this lip in their measurements.
