Oil pan tips 1985
Hey there I was ready to take off my oil pan and noticed the coolant line runs right under it. Also very hard to ree the front nut(drivers)
It is dirtier that I would like but
Will the pan fit between the coolant pipe(or do I have to remove)
Get that front bolt with a swivel?
Manuall says nothing. Anyone done this model
Thanks

in 1985, the K34 oil cooler was part of RPO Z51 package. that oil cooler will have a (metal) coolant line (#9), running under the front edge and LH side of the pan -

Pretty greasy to get a look at it. I will have my timing mark at 5 o clock. Hopefully Get that off.
Just cant see front nut, hope I don't need to remove the pipe.
Thx

when I dropped my 85's oil pan, I removed the coolant line - of course, I was doing more than just the gasket. good luck....

I have heard that you have to rotate the crank to get the pan off. When I took mine off the crank just happened to be at TDC and the oil pan came right out. I have the oil cooler option, but I don't remember if I removed the coolant line or not.

My pan comes right out too, I don't remember any interference from the crank but maybe it was just dumb luck. I did have to remove the coolant tube to get it out. I got rid of the so-called oil cooler the factory installed, bought a small stacked plate cooler and mounted it in front of the radiator. It does a way more efficient job of cooling and it enabled me to get rid of that tube.
