Default C1 clutch replacment /best brand

Just wondering what other c1 owners have used for clutch pressure plate kits , mild street use, last time out I used a Hayes street strip , with a Hayes steel flywheel that came with the car ,
the disk I removed is 10 1/2 inch and pressure plate , correct me but didn't the 61 corvette use a 11 inch disk and pp. the Hayes fly wheel has provisions for both , what difference does it make ? other brand I see are Zoom and Ram .

flywheel diameter is going to be the biggest determining factor as to what you can use, small flywheel will only take 10-1/2, large might take either depending on how they are drilled. . for street either will work... I used a LUK

Looking for a few more opinions on clutch kits used on C1 corvettes . ordering a fork spring from Zip and a pilot roller bearing , They seem to sell inexpensive clutch kits,
still like feed back . for now I am painting and detailing parts .

For a street driven basic SB Vette, Luk 04-021 has been used by many of us guys. We have been warned NOT to use a roller pilot bearing. The Oilite bushing is highly recommended. Do a search on this and you will find much supporting information. Dennis

'conventional wisdom' says, don't use a roller pilot bearing...

LUK has been an OEM mfr forever nothing wrong with them...x2 on the GM bushing learned the hard way on the ones you get at the local auto parts.
My trans guy works on a lot of hot rods unless they are putting out big power he will always install the LUK .

LUK is made by Sachs and is top quality stuff. Better than GM quality, in my experiences with it. My next clutch in any of my rides will be an LUK. Have installed many of them, and always had great pedal feel and holding power. And they never came back with issues, either.

I spoke with Dave in the tech department at Luk's a couple of days ago. He said he worked for Sachs for 20 years and that he could assure me that they were in no way connected. Two companies in competition with each other.

Take it from a guy that ran a Transmission shop from 1973 to 2015 when I retired. In 1990 another shop owner told me to try LUK clutch sets as we were having comebacks on the local parts house clutches.

From 1990 to 2015 we probably installed hundreds of LUK Repsets both foreign and domestic with not 1 fault.

Most of these were street driven vehicles. As long as the customer knew how to drive a clutch vehicle we were home free. No worries about a comeback.

If you want a quality clutch set, buy LUK as long as YOU install it correctly.

What can go wrong on a install ?? the only thing I didn't like so far with the luk kit ,throw out bearing didn't look to good , the non metallic pilot bushing works well with a magnet, summit sent me a 04084 that turned out to be a 10 inch disk but it bolts the the hays flywheel . Disk was made in Korea ! better be the south ! my sons in the army there now !

What can go wrong has!!!
Just removed motor again clutch would not disengage ! I really think the fork I was sold by summit could be the trouble , the summit tech support guy said the pressure plate could be defective , they claim all the parts I was sold are correct for my 61 , We are using a hays fly wheel clutch kit 04084

I plan on using a Centerforce on my 61. Plan to use stock clutch linkage, Centerforce recommends I use their short throwout bearing. Anyone had experience with this short throwout bearing? Height is 1.24 inches.

Jerry - I just checked my old one out of my 61 and its 1.25" Stock LuK diaphram clutch.
