Not worth it at all, and I have the Bose in my GS. Contact Dennis at DDmods, he will set you up with everything you need. I would guess somewhere between $1,200-1,500 depending on the system.

If you think the stock stereo is "garbage", than you probably won't think much of the Bose system either. Best bet is to change the head unit with an aftermarket unit and then if you want to continue, then upgrade the speakers and add a sub and amp. And just for the record, my car came with the Bose unit and i've slowly been replacing everything.

I didn't have any complaints with the stock Bose system either, it was a good sound system, but the fact is if your upgrading you could get an aftermarket system with an amp that will be much better, and maybe even cheaper than Bose. JMO

I know the Bose was redesigned in 2012 with 2 new tweeters, new redesigned subs and a redesigned amp. I have had a 2012 base and now a 2013 GS both with the Bose and with the proper source material it does sound quite good. I have never heard the Bose before the redesign so I can't comment what the 2011 and lower sounded like for comparison.

Heck...I think my stock one is a Bose. Maybe i'm missing something. Regardless, the only real complaint I have about it is the so called auto volume control. It's absolutely in every sense of the word "Useless". It's not tied in with the speedo like most auto vol controls are. It's spose to recognize different levels of outside noise and adjust to them. It's a vert so admittedly since I almost never drive it with the top up i'm not sure if it works any better with top up or not, but with the top down it's "Garbage"....lOL

I don't get why GM used the Bose for so long, to me it's like building a mansion without indoor plumbing. My 09 has Bose with nav and that's mostly why I keep it. The FM radio sounds terrible, XM is better but the best sound is thru the CD, baffles me as well. If you were going to take the time to upgrade I would go aftermarket especially from the base system.

None of the factory head units are Bose. Only the speakers and amp are and IMO are the weak link in the system. I kept my factory nav and added 2 aftermarket amps, a 12" sub in back and replaced the door speakers with quality components. The SQ is so far beyond the factory setup it isn't comparable.

Any stock stereo that GM provides is total crap. I'm a hifi kinda guy and I haven't heard a single GM car (or pretty much any car for that matter) where a stock audio setup is any good.

Definitely get in touch with Dennis at DD Mods. Go with an aftermarket setup with an amp for a better system than stock or Bose for the same or less money.

Well i'm no audio expert to be sure, and I hate to admit it, but the one in our Acura might be the best stock unit i've ever heard.

Go with Bose and save your money by upgrading to another brand. My Bose speakers sound great in my coupe, hell its a car, not home stereo. Put money into other mods that adds some zoom zoom to the car. $1500 can get you a nice set of headers where you won't even bother turning the radio on. JMO

Yep,both rear speakers are mono, as well as the center one in the dash.
This leaves only the two small speakers in the doors that are stereo channeled (and the tweeters on the later models), and the rest of just fill speakers isntead.
Throw in the 2 mono thumpers in the doors that really don't get down to 20hz cleanly (more in the 80hz range as their Q), and got not highs, got no lows, must be Bose.
