Default HRE now has flowform wheels

Spoke to someone at HRE yesterday. He said the flowform wheels are strong enough to occasionally track. Little lighter than stock. Love the custom finishes.
Something to consider vs CCW.

Thats great, but they're strong enough to track occasionally? So basically they aren't all that great when it comes down to it for tracking.

At that point you may as well spend the extra few hundred per wheel and get actual forged wheels that are going to hold up.

I have HRE's on another car I own, paid $1150 a piece back in 2001. They want more than 2X for lightweights now, I can't see it.
I'm an occasional track guy - I like upgrades on my car that are fun - run better, sound better, look better - without throwing my hard earned money away. I think flow formed, or flow forged is a better compromise.
I did not get strength numbers, I should have. I will - more knowledge is better - before making a decision.

??? "...strong enough to occasionally track." I give up, what does that mean?

I think people are hung up on the word "occasional" and spinning it to mean something other than what it was intended to, but that's ok I can clear it up. Occasional tracking to some people in the office here may mean more than once a month, whereas some may say occasional tracking is four times a year. Regardless, we have many customers using FlowForm wheels every weekend at track days and race weekends.

Truth be told, our FlowForm wheels pass the same TUV certification testing process that our Forged wheels do, so durability shouldn't be of concern.

Will Forged wheels be lighter, and more durable for the track? Yes of course they will, but not everyone who is interested in wheels has the budget to jump into a Forged set. Luckily our FlowForm wheels are the closest you can get to that, with a price point that's easier on the wallet, all while passing the same stringent certification tests our Forged wheels do.

If you have a Z51, or Z51 wheels you will be replacing the stock forged wheels with semi-cast wheels. Not a good mod imo. Sometimes you have to pay the piper.
